I don't know what's happening in the other regions in the US, but as far as Oregon is concerned it is extremely tough to get a hold of a good GenI.
This is weird, since there were these doom and gloom messages over here that told us prices were dropping like a brick, etc...
A couple of months ago my company told me I had to go back to Europe, so I put my Viper for sale. In the meantime I told them to take a hike and decided to stay in the US (also lost my job, hehe). Anyway - one of the nice things is that I'm keeping my Viper.
I had it for sale for 39,950$. People are still calling and are dissapointed that the car is not for sale anymore. All I hear is that there are no nice cars available in the NW. Again - I don't know how this compares to the other regions, but I would not be concerned of taking a big depreciation hit on a GenI. Every day more of them are wrecked, these puppies could be scarce one day. Just my 0.02

There is a very clean 1994 RT/10 red Viper for sale with 7,000 miles. The car has custom slider windows. If interested, contact Jon Diehl in Bellingham, WA at (360) 332-1478 (home), or (360) 220-4466 (cell).
