Input requested on E-Bay Motors and Car Auctions

I have never bought or sold a car on E-Bay or through one of the car auctions Anyone who can give me input on how their experiences with these has been would be appreciated. I am hoping to sell my ACR-X. It is in great condition with a new Arrow rebuild and all Dodge Viper Cup allowable upgrades. It has a great race history as the car Ryan Schimsk drove while winning the Championship in the inaugural 2010 Dodge Viper Cup season. Its' livery was changed in 2011 where it was my backup car in the 2011 DVC series (the last full year for DVC). The final race of that season I loaned the car to Kuno Wittmer who drove it to a first place finish at Daytona (followed by Craig Stanton, Jeff Courtney and me).

Obviously sellers experiences will be most helpful and any other input on the best sales approach is welcomed.

Pictures! Pictures! Pictures! then a detailed description is best. In my experience of selling and buying on Ebay Photos say everything about your auction and you as a seller. I know that sounds too easy but since your potential buyer can't see the car in person you need to be able to make them feel like they are seeing everything there is to see. Your description then should point out all of the necessary details.

Use a image hosting site like inkfog, villagephotos or Auction Zealot. There you can upload almost as many pics as you can and have total control on how your ad looks. Ebays standard Auction or fixed price ad is pretty lame to me. If you browse some of the ads you'll know what I mean. Remember here you want to capture people's attention. I also recommend that you don't be pushy or rude about fees, deposits up front or threaten against non paying bidders. That kind of stuff is out there but if you aren't smart enough to **** out the posers (scammers) then you shouldn't be selling on ebay in the first place. I sometimes offer up front no money down and payment is only required when the buyer is satisfied the car meets their expectation. That to me makes you confident as a seller and it makes people feel confident as a buyer. Remember there are legitimate 1st time ebay buyers out there. We all started from zero (no feedback). Also if the auction ends and your buyer doesn't pay you don't pay(associated fees) either. Ebay protects the seller when it comes to that. They won't make you pay either. You're only out your listing fee (depends on type of auction) and your time. You just relist and go at it again and while most think some of your other potential buyers have moved on just remember new ones are browsing everyday.

Thank you very much for the input. It seems very little trouble to try E-bay first as opposed to transporting the car to an auction with an uncertain outcome. My wife is good with photos and hosting sites (and motivated to turn the car into $$) so we should be good there, but absent your advice I would have never thought to go that route - even though it makes perfect sense. Thanks again!

I had experience with only two online auctions. First one is Ebay, some sellers use photoshop on photos of the vehicles and you can get deposit only by opening dispute (i had several cases like this one). Also I had good experience with this car auction https://abetter.bid/en/car-finder/type-automobiles/make-dodge/ I bought there my Viper. It's basically like ebay and you can bid there on cars
