I installed Belanger headers last night. The finish was awsome. It was on a 1998 GTS I had shift the motor mounts is this usual ? I wish they would have a front mount on the turn around pipe but other than that everything was cool. I am now distributing their system and was impressed by the fit to heads. This system is the exact same as B&B tri-y I have installed, but they are coated aluminized and not stainless steel like B&B.

The Random tech's where much quieter than I expected when hooked up to Corsa. It the Random techs do work I would highly recommend them. I still can't believe the price of stuff for these [******] cars. (converter section is on 4 to 6" but cost over $200 per side HOLY ****)

Did you install the metal or ceramic Random Tech cats? I have the metal and they are loud.

i have the belanger headers, random tech metal cats, & corsa 3" cat back and when i dynoed my viper to get a baseline before my roe supercharger was installed, my dyno run was the 2nd loudest sound i've ever heard. strange, but true - my roe supercharger quieted my exhaust quite a bit.

(i'm whispering in this post, so nothing is capitalised)

i have the randomtech substrate super $ cats and wow!
they are awesome not very big and not too loud.
along with the B&B catback is the best combo yet.
the sound is deeper and meaner than any other system i have heard!!
It sounds just right for a viper, not too loud, not too soft, just right.
Goldie Locks would love these ;)

next year B&B headers!!!
Thanks again !!!

Mike,
I hope you put your "Heat Shields" back on! They will fit with a little adjusting! The reason I'm asking is, we lost a 97 GTS because of no sheilds [FIRE!]. The headers where "Coated"? [I did not install this set!] It is up to you! I'm just telling you from history. I've now installed over 100 sets of Headers and every one has had the stock sheilds re-installed! The owner [97GTS] was told by the manufacturer: "You don't need the Heat Shields!"

There will be a lot of owners of Headers that will tell you that I'm nuts. That's cool! All I can say is that they have "Lady Luck" on their side!

The "Belangers" are one of the best! But, they don't know everything!

Viper Wizard I read the same thing in the forums before I bought my headers but both Jon B. and Belanger said not to use the shields as these are not Stainless Headers and do not have the heat problems that stainless has. I have only done a couple of short runs and temps have been ok. Going on the Slither (250 mile run) this Sunday so I plan on checking temp out to make sure there is not a problem. Thanks for the info.

Hissses,
jonb is NOT a Mechanic, and Belanger sells their product!
I hope you don't have a problem! May I suggest you carry a Fire Extinguisher, just in case!

Mike,

Describe the sound difference between the B&B complete exhaust with their high flow cats vs the Belanger, Random Tech, Corsa system that you just installed. Which system is louder at idle, cruising, WOT? How do the tones compare?

You say that the Belanger system is the exact same as the B&B tri-y that you have installed. I have only seen pictures of the B&B system vs the Belangers, but to me it looked like the Belangers were true tri-y where as the B&B were 5 into 1 merge style headers.

Can the Random Tech cats be substituted into the B&B complete system?

Did you notice any dyno or seat of the pants difference in power between the two systems?

Thanks
David

What was the cause of the fire? Was it the heat generated by the headers igniting something close by? Or a fluid leak onto them--like a power steering cap coming off?
