Gen1 - Removing intake. The manual says to remove the fuel line quick connect that runs below the thermostat. There is also a connection of this line right at the bottom of the intake, different type of connection though, more like a bolt. Which should I remove?

I tried the quick connect, can't figure it out.

When I pulled my intake (Gen2) I used a wrench and removed the connection at the intake manifold. Took a little while since due to the tight fit, you can only turn the nut one flat at a time. Maybe it is easier on a Gen 1. For the quick disconnect, you need a special fuel line quick disconnect tool to do it by the book. The quick disconnect can be a bear to disconnect when the fuel line is under pressure. The manual says to run the car with the fuel pump power disconnected (pull the fuse, I believe) until the fuel line is drained.

Another opinion, don't remove the line at the manifold, it is fragile and can be damaged, especially due to the limited access. The qc fitting is not that bad. The removal tool is cheap and can be bought anywhere. The trick is to hold one line and pull the slip-on removal collar towards the fixed line. The fuel pressure will release quickly, it does not try to maintain pressure.
