Anecdotally, I have heard that Gen 1 and Gen 2 taillight assemblies interchange, and I am trying to confirm if Gen 1 and Gen 2 Taillight assemblies actually physically interchange. (To be clear, the assemblies housing the bulbs that show taillights and brake lights in North American market Vipers is what I am asking about, not the turn signal/back-up light assembly.)
I searched through old posts and compared part numbers, and the only post I could find was one that said '08 to '10 Coupe taillight assemblies will fit Gen 1 and Gen 2 cars. I only need to determine if the actual lens and reflector assembly bolt in on their respective sides. I am not concerned about anything to do with sockets, bulbs, harnesses, wiring color codes or plugs. I am also only concerned with North American taillight lenses. There are export ones which show a different part number. So can I take, for instance, a '94 RT/10 taillight housing and slide in into the same side rear opening on a '01 GTS? Can I take a taillight out of a '98 RT/10, and put it in the back of a '08 Coupe?
Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks.
