I would go with the exclusivity of the ACR compared to the GTR; The Viper ACR has an iconic ring to it that in 5 years will not be matched by the GTR Nissan; the GTR is not relevant to the muscle car brand and never will be....

If you buy a car like this with even a hint of investment in your mind, it's going to poison any fun you have with it. It's really hard to drive the cr@p out of something if you see every mile as lowering its value. Whenever I watch the auctions and see 60's and early 70's muscle cars go by that have never been titled and only have a few miles on them, I feel really sorry for the person that bought them...

I just saw an episode of "Chasing Classic Cars" on HD Theater. This couple had found a (I think it was) a 1960sumptin Ford Galaxy Convertible in mint condition. They bought it in 1982 and parked it in their garage. They never drove it. Never even MOVED it. Sat in the garage for 27 years. They would go in an sit in it for fun. So the guy drops dead, and the wife contacts 'ol Wayne to sell it for her.
Two words come to mind...

Effin' Idiots!

Dude was too concerned about the value of the car dropping if he put miles on it.

Buy the car, drive it, enjoy it.

Man... i have the itchy trigger finger for this ACR.....

The last 500 that Dodge will make... will they all be red and white like the FE 2002's? or do they mean the final 500 as in, mine will be one of the final 500 if I order?

If you want an ACR best to buy one at bad economy prevailing prices this year... will they actually produce 500 next year?? who knows....they were to build 100 VOIX limited edition Vipers and only produced 77......alot can happened between now and next spring....and most likely there will be a price increase by the time they open orders....

Did they ever build the full 100 VOI 10 white blue Vipers? And for investment buy a good piece of land somewhere. Cars are the worst investment ever!! Just enjoy cars thats about it. You will loose your face off on any car

My feeling is that you buy what your heart tells you to buy, and screw what common sense says. If you find a car that's around now that you like (color plays a giant part in it), then get it while you can. If there's a car available in the Final Edition series that does it for you, do whatever you can to get it. When it comes down to it, it's just a car, and it's meant to be enjoyed - so that should be the value objective. Not that I know squat....

But to answer your original question.

In normal times the Viper was one of the slowest depreciating cars.

A new 1992-93 sold for in the $50,000 range, and up to the recession was selling in the 30,000s.

A new B/W GTS from 96-97 sold for about $60,000 new, and in 2001 was selling for $50,000.

These are remarkable numbers. Perhaps some of the best fun for the money vehicles ever produced in America.

Now that so many people are out of work, underemployeed, and loans are hard to get, their values have shown a more substantial drop, but still not as much as many of the other supercars.

You mentioned that some Ford GTs are selling for close to sticker now, must take into consideration that they used to sell for considerably more than sticker to get them new.

The VOIX Vipers were the bright Silver with Black fangs; according to Herb H (who has one) they only built 77. They MSRP'd for 103 thousand, but are available still at some dealers for the high 80s........

I've got 120,000 miles on my investment. It was 74K new and is now probably worth less than 30K. It's the best investment I've ever made. An ACR would give the same return, any Viper would.

I would not speculate on any future color; however, if I was going for investment value, I would start with a 98 GTSR, then a 96 B/W, 97 B/W RT/10 Vert or a 92 RT/10. Personally, I would like to have an 08 red/black ACR like the Nuberring car. I would definitely go for an ACR. Since they are temporarily stopping production and will likely not have coupe for a while after production restarts, I will offer you my 1 of 9 Black/White 08 coupe for $100K, but it will be going up as the supply dries up. :D
