I'm probably going to blow something up.

Help, I’m in the process of installing a RB1, as well as theIpod adapter. The confusion is with the additional harness which I believe isan extention part 05191195aa its appx 3 ft with a 10 way female connector onone end and a 12 way male on the other. The standard harness which comes with the Ipod adapter is appx 2ft 10way female on one end and 12 way female on the other.
Seems that normally you would plug the 12 way female intothe adapter (no prob I see that). If I use this part 05191195aa, it forces meto use the 10 way female( instead of the 12 way) on the back of the adapter. Is this the correct connection?
Note the adapter has 3 inputs all male one 22 way, one 10and one 12.
The only other option seem to be to plug this 05191195aainto the car ( not the rb1) which will have a free 10 way female connector. Then into the adapter.
Maybe I should do a diagram
Anyway Thanks guys once again
PS, why will the car have a free, unused 10 way connector?

I did a write up on this in the latest Viper magazine. I had one cable left over as well but that was my satellite radio cable which I had to leave disconnected for the kit to work in my GEN IV.

Could you take some pics and post them here? I double checked my install photos and there is one port open on the silver iPod adapter box in my install. That port I believe was used for satellite radio.

OK here goes, Note the battery is disconnected photo #1 is normal like your installation, Photo 2 shows the cable 05191195aa used as extention. Photo3 both cables go to adapter and one goes to radio, one to wiring harness.

Hmm... My kit didn't come with that cable that has the male and female ends. The only thing I could suggest is rig everything up and test the system. This is what I did to make sure all my connections worked. The cable that is running off the wiring harness that was connected to the radio I just left behind the radio disconnect behind the dash. Didn't have a problem with it as I had the install done before I drove the car to VOI.

Where are you mounting the iPod adapter box? With my first install - I went with the passenger side - but on my second install - learned that there is a great spot on the drivers side trans tunnel.

Thats my plan, to hook it up and see what happens. I read somewhere about a drivers side box install. I'll check that out first thing. That sure would solve some issues, seems I saw photos of the drivers trans tunnel install. Otherwise I found a place above the passenger footwell in front of the glovebox, but the standard cable won't reach. The white one does reach the console storage area.

Here hoping Dan at Viper specialities can resolve the mygig question, if so we won't have to go through all this. Thanks again Bob for the great install write up in Viper Magazine this month.

Thanks Guys, I'll post the results.

Install complete, did not need the so called extention cable. Rocket62 is right there is an excellent location for the adapter on the drivers side tunnel, well above the gas petal on the tunnel. Seems to work OK, cannot completely test the nav antenna since its raining. Thanks everybody and Happy New Year.
