Is the e-brake handle supposed to go up this high?

Looking at this picture, is the e-brake handle normal looking? In my curent GTS, it does not go this high. Are others the same or could there be something wrong with it?

Sometimes the linkage gets streched -- it is a little higher than usual but it looks it's typical passenger unfriendly self!

By the way, that's not a graphite, what are you doing looking at it?

Here is my take on e-brake...To avoid e-cable stretch; Hot car leave in gear; Cold car pull the e-brake.

I know on mine on a couple of occasions when I first got the car, if I pulled the brake handle up at an angle (like toward my shoulder instead of toward the roof of the car) it felt as if the ratchet mechanism slipped and the handle pulled up much farther than it normally did. After that, I was very careful to pull directly up in line with the handle and have not had a problem since. But when it did occur, it looked much like the handle in the photo.

Not sure about a viper, but there is usually an adjustment on the cable back where it hits the axels. Turn the adjustment & it tightens up a stretched cable.

The rear calipers are also the parking brake; the internal screw mechanism is self adjusting and should account for pad wear and cable stretch.
