Hey Tony,
The 1996 that you are talking about: Is this the car on a MSO? If this is the same car I am thinking about, he would NOT take $100k for the car. RyckyRacer got turned down on the 1996 and ended up buying a 1997 for $60k+
I thought about what he paid. Not too bad since he got a 3/36 warranty that started the day he bought the Viper. Got a brand new car for not much more than a used one. Then he can add the extended warranty. He will have warranty to 2010. At that point his Viper will be 13 years old!
Jerry, I never made an offer on the 96 6 mile MSO car. When you told me the guy wanted north of 100k for a 6 mile MSO blue and white, it was more than I could ever justify. I don't have your kind of money, or your stable of hot women either!
I did jump all over the 97 talked about above by AlabamaACR. I bought it for 61K and got a check back for $149.00 for some kind of tax deal the Dealership owner said he wouldn't make me pay.
Like AlabamaACR and you said, I think I got a steal of a deal. I'm still giddy about getting a car still on MSO from the original dealership, being the original owner, getting full 3yr/36k mi warranty with only 201 miles on the clock that the dealership owner put on himself using the car in town parades over the 7 years he had it on his showroom floor, all for 60K and change. I need the grin surgically removed from my face to this day!
At the time I was shopping I couldn't find a decent blue and white with under 5k miles for less than 58k. So for a few grand more I got a jewel that I'm the original owner of.
I did send a direct e-mail the originator of this post and told him my story and said it's his call, if his gut says do it and his poscket allows, jump all over it. I told him to look at it like this:
What if you HAVE to sell the car in one year and you put 1,000 to 1,500 miles on either one you buy. Will it be easier to sell a 1,800 mile car or a 6,800 mile car? I would always think selling the lower milage car would be an eaiser task.
I also told him I do not have any seal leaks, or drying out issues talked about above. Jon B told me if I do, before I tear it apart to run non-synthetic oil in it and that should swell everything back up. I assume that would depend on how bad things could be. But knock on wood I haven't had any issues.
But, the best car is the car you feel comfortable with price wise and condition wise and I'm sure you will never look back!
Thanks again to Tony and Mike for putting my Blue and White into my hands. I don't think I could have found such a jewel without the two of you guys! Tony and Mike, I haven't ever ran at Atlanta yet in the Busch car, but if I do this year or even next, the pit passes and dinner are on me!
