I need some sincere and friendly advice.

I wanted to drive the Viper to work today but the weather chick is calling for 50% rain. This concerns me not because the Viper I have put 108,000 miles on might get dirty but because Vipers don't have TC.

My truck doesn't have TC but that's different.

Most the cars on the road don't have TC but that's different.

But my Viper doesn't have TC and now I'm worried. What do you fellow Viper owners do?

Please advise.

OK, Chuck we will cut you some slack because we can't expect every one of your 13,241 posts to make sense.

Obviously, you could just drive your GTS half way there and you'll probably be OK.:drive:

Explaining Viper things to you
Drive in reverse.

1 - You'll never reach dangerous speeds.

2 - You'll meet people driving like you never have before.

3 - Natural vortexes of the weather dynamics of driving will also be in reverse, meaning the rain droplets will be traveling upwards over your Viper.

Send pics later please.

I would go for it! 50% chance, hey you will only have to dry off/clean half the car. Sounds like a bargain!!

personally, I'd brake a little earlier to scrub off entry speed. Let the car rotate on an early apex and roll into the throttle sooner but very gently. Honk the entire time for added entertainment. Wear the HANS.

I never listen to the weather forecasters, they're as reliable for truth as the National Enquirer writers are for real news!

Be a gambler, take the hard top off and leave the soft top at home. A little water won't hurt anything.

Temperature control..all my cars have it. 2 of them even have heated seats and wipers.
edit: That's what we're talking about isn't it....?

LOL--no, actually we were talking about *gasp* traction control (TC)...which is useless except in the rain/ice...I turn mine off in my daily driver....we have no temperature control, just the a/c and open air (vert!!)....juli
Your Viper has temp control? You said ALL your cars~~~none of ours do...nope, no heated seats, no heated wipers...:omg:

Yes...warm and warmer. I'm not sure if the air works or not...actully it does as the one time I put it on I noticed it turn off everytime I touched the gas.

If it's raining I don't drive the Viper. Just not fun, and thats not why I bought it. Take whatever other car you have, TC or no TC, I'd rather not crash the Viper.

Very funny post especially from Chuck. But in all seriousness, I love driving in the rain because it's more challenging. :crazy2:

If the tires have enough tread, then straight line is usually not a problem unless you encounter pooling water. That might need some deft countersteering to get it right but as long as you stay on the gas, you won't swap ends. :2tu:

Ramps are a different issue. I take ramps in a higher gear than normal. e.g. If going on a ramp, I would be in 2nd or 3rd, I now take it in 4th or 5th so that the rpm is lower and the torque is lower. This prevents me from losing the rear. In the north east, a small frost heave or bump in the middle of a wet ramp is sufficient to spin you out. Don't ask how I know! :dunno:
