Well, this may not be exactly what you have going on, But...
One time I was zooming down Pacific Coast Highway with the entire BMW population of So Cal behind me, (WAAAY behind me) he-he-he, and-
When I took off at the light,, I heard a rattling noise coming from the engine compartment.
Turns out I had not firmly tightened the three knurled head bolts that hold the air box to the car. It shaked only when letting the clutch out while giving it gas. Went away when under way. (Made me think it was related to engine stress, but it had nothing to do with the motor. Just harmonic rattling)
