Greeting VCA,

Several weeks ago I realized my dream of buying a Viper. After 15 years of college and several years in practice as an interventional nephrologist I decided to take the plunge. Turning 40 may have had a little influence (mid-life crisis??:D).

I looked at cars for several months and drove a few: AMG CL55, porsches (C4s was nice), Z-06s, tuner mustangs etc... when I ran accross the Viper it was love a first sight. I drove it once, and bought it the next day.

The Viper is Red (yes another red one) with silver stripes, 34k miles, Corsa exhaust, and a short throw shifter. The Viper is without a doubt the most fun car that I have ever driven.

I currently live in Uptown New Orleans, with all of its problems, thus I have opted to leave the car in Tennessee. My father has been gratious enough to keep it in his garage. It has been a pleasure sharing the car with him as he is another car lover (look up Gabbard Publications on google to see his books). He had always wanted a 427 Cobra when he was younger, the viper is "very close, only better" according to him.

I have not posted yet on the Forums but have read many of them. Lots of good information and great people here.

Hopefully in the future a Roe super charger. Maybe heads, cam, rockers/push rods, headers, dyno-tune first. Who knows, being single has its advantages:rolaugh:.

BTW- I have tried to figuer out how to post pictures, even read FAQ and searched the forums. No luck. Any help would be appreciated. I did post one photo in the 2001 Gallery, title Red/Silver '01 GTS.

Best Regards,
Will

Concrats! My first Viper was red GTS with silver stripes. Great color combo. I ended up selling to a collector from Japan for a nice profit and purchased a red ACR for a lot less money.

First, welcome aboard. I am sure your future holds a lot of Viper fun. Too bad you don't have your car with you in New Orleans. I don't know about the others here but what is a "interventional nephrologist". I know I could Google it but I am too lazy today.....was at a baseball game last night and didn't get home until 2 AM. Thanks :smirk:

Interventional nephrology is a fairly new field of medicine. After college and medical school it requres boards in internal medicine and nephrology (kidneys). Then further subspecialization in vascular access (blood vessels).

All those fancy words add up to: a kidney specialist who does surgery on blood vessels: ie. putting really big IV's (half centemeter in some cases) into patients. Also, keeping dialysis shunts open and functioning.

You mean renal stents? Or just putting in dialysis catheters and declotting shunts? Man what a nightmare job

Hmmm, an MD AND a Viper owner.:headbang: I think Chad is going to have stiff competition.

I'm looking forward to all of the ******* and Nopi pictures now... :lmao:

During Mardi Gras you could use the line SMYT and get a ride on the snake....:D

I lost all hope for recovery in a red/silver stripes GTS just like yours, so I agree with Dave that you have made an excellent choice! Welcome to a most excellent group of people :2tu:

Umm... nephro- kidney.
necro- dead. I guess a necrologist is like a pathologist or maybe a mortician:dunno:. I do my best to keep my patients alive:D.

wallbanger- no renal artery stents, though I would love to learn. catheters, ports, declots, venous stent yes.
