Just got into it with an R1

Good Friend of mine.. Great driver also! He's got a R1, mapped, pipe, exhaust, filter. My girl was in the car and we were side by side at the light. She took the video... Not very good, but still it's a video.

He pulled me when he shifted, but the gearing and TQ of the viper pulled him back in upon every shift. I would say it was a tie, but you'll see my pulling. More room and 100% I would have pulled away. . If the road was longer I would have pulled him more... We ran twice.. 2nd run I pulled him more as the computer was seeing the beat down. That's what I get for babying the car for a week. I think another run or two and I know I would have pulled him MUCH more.

30k miles and car is just as strong as when I got it.... What a mean grocery getter (Doug tells I'm riding on old technology)

Cool. Fast bike and good kill. I'm just surprised you didn't hammer the R1 after seeing your Busa kills though.

I thought the same thing... Dunno. Weight, driver skill, weather, passenger etc.. who knows. I think an R1/GSXR1000 would give a 'busa trouble if driven perfect.
Actually let me clarify this.. It was from a STAND still. I was side by side with him, even beating him at times. Now the roll on race with him, you can see I was easily pulling him before we shut down....

If he's decent driver that tells us,you are very good driver and your car can run 9's @mid 140's.

Cool video, and to reiterate what someone else said, your car sounds GREAT.

Was the exhaust work part of the DLM package, or did you have someone else do it? Can you tell me (us) what you had done?

Also, what kind of HP/TQ are you putting down?

I would like to share a story of racing a 2003 R1 that I was told was stock that is supposed to run 9.5 @143 in the 1/4. We did a closed course 60 MPH roll on, I spun, he was instantly 10 cars on me! On a closed course 100-180 we were dead even where I started to pull him. I went to 190, his rev limiter kicked in @ 186. I was shocked I did not spank him like Gerald routinely seems to do to bikes. We slowed down to around 100 MPH and I saw something I never saw......., This little 110 lb. rider started doing a wheelie sitting on the front of his gas tank while doing the splits with his legs way in front of the handlebars! His foot was nowhere even close to the rear brake pedal mind you! I could not believe it! According to his riding buddies he is one of the best riders in Chicago. I later noticed I had a boost leak and was making only about 7.5 PSI.
After that I was getting ready for the USCC and have not yet been back out for another shot. Sorry to hijack this thread, but was just responding to TOOOFST. Congrats on your kill Gerald!

Mike, speaking of your car getting done, it is almost the end of October. You said you were going to get your car by the end of October, How close to being done is it? If it is not finished by now, do you think you will be able to go to the December 7 deal in Texas?

Not to speak for Mike but.... Mike has some NEW stuff that is going to be done to his car from what I was told, I am anxiously awaiting for it as I'll be incorporating it.. unreal!!!
