I just got off the phone with Doug Levin, and i am very impressed with this man. I really believe his objective is to make sure every customer is happy. As many of you know I am not the most educated viper owner so I ask alot of questions. I called to get some info and Doug has been very helpful! Imagine this, He could have made more money off me but chose to save me money! He has instructed the best places to put the money for the most power and performance!!!

needless to say, I am thrilled this man Is building my car!!! I am sure it will be the mac daddy!!! The hardest part is waiting!!!

One more thing, The guy with the 650 R that wrote me the nasty e mails for asking simple questions concerning HMS. I can't wait for you to read my license plate! That is if you can stay close enough!!! Bowling Green VOI 7
thanks

Definitely the tuner of choice for many, including myself if I ever scrape up the extra funds. One of our Kansas City members is VERY eagerly awaiting his Gen I return from Doug in the next couple weeks. His has been there a little longer than normal (almost a year!), but I think it is because so much of his work is pioneering for a Gen I (intercooler, etc.). He is VERY eager to get it back, especially with our next Dyno Day less than a month away. Count on numerous pictures and charts when it gets back...

David,

Who among the 650R community was nasty? Inquiring minds want to know.

And please, we are all a community of Viper owners. If you wish to cast a stone on your licence plate, why not throw at the Vettes.....

Regards,

Martin D I am not casting stones just one of the 650R Owners was real nasty because of me asking so many questions. Actually I think he said I was incompetent to even own a viper. I Have High respect for the HMS CARS!! For that matter John Hennessy himself has been very nice and i Appreciate that!!! I think you even gave me some advice. So I apologize to all except the man who called me out, Now im calling you out!!!

Dr. Roof:

Thanks for relaying your first-hand experience with DLM. I'm weighing options and every bit of infromation helps.

As for the jack-*** that is sending you negative e-mails - I think I know whom you speak of. Just ignore him, as I noticed that he is repeatedly abrasive towards others on this site. He respects no one's opinion except his own, thus the very definition of a fool.

I am very impressed with the way Doug Levin offers to help others. I was having trouble with a leak around the thermostat housing on my car and he offered to talk me through the repair.
Good guy and a smart business man who knows his stuff.
David- If you own a Viper and you have questions, you welcome here.

Dr Roof -

Your car is in good hands. I saw it with mine own eyes a short while ago.

One of the things that impresses me most about Doug's shop is that every viper in there is kept clean throughout the process. Even the ones that have the engines out or those that are waiting for parts... they are all clean. Almost clean enough to show!

When I last brought my car down to him (650 mile drive), the first thing he did was clean it up. And I'm not just talking the outside... Engine bay was spotless BEFORE he started tuning it!

Now contrast that with "other" tuners who sometimes store spare tires on your roof.

Lots of little details that make me happy to give the business to Doug... And then there are those that involve the fact that he builds sickenly fast cars!

Just my .02...

Joseph

I too have nothing but good stories to relate w.r.t. my experiences with DLM. He's honest, friendly, and always takes the time to talk with me and let me know what's going on (even when it's one of the setbacks inevitable in a pioneering project...). He's not the fastest, but I don't want someone who would rush through a project of this magnitude. Frankly, he spends so much time getting each car just right, that I don't understand how he can make a living off this stuff (secretly, I suspect he's independently wealthy and just does this as a hobby because he enjoys it

) Everyone who gets their car back from Doug says it was worth the wait.

My personal net-net: if you want 450-650 RWHP and you want it next month, send your car to APEX, BTR, Dan Cragin, TNT, CDI, or any of a number of other very reputable tuners who will fix you up with a great normally-aspirated and/or NOS package. If you want 700-1000 (or more!) RWHP, call Doug and prepare to (a) wait and then (b) be scared sh*tless the first time you tap the gas and (c) be the envy of every car show you attend, every parking lot you frequent, and every dragstrip you terrorize.

David,
There is no excuse for any adverse treatment from a 650R owner.
You will find most of us are just glad you decided to tune your car! Welcome to the world of high horsepower. Levin's accolades are many, I'm sure you will be proud of his work.
Keep us all updated.

I am waiting for Ben's 801 so that I have a reason to send the car back for something other than a LEVEL I!

Either he or Martin with his Twin Turbo aspirations will put me back in a frenzy to make _more_ power.

Details...

Heh, Gerald... we won't know until it's done and on the dyno, and like your car the reading will depend a good deal on the ambient air temperature at the time. However, being who I am I couldn't resist extrapolating some figures. Using reasonable assumptions, in 70F weather it should make somewhere between 815 and 875 RWHP on blower. Since Doug has promised my car will make "at least 700 RWHP, Ben", applying the usual 22% 'Levin Sandbag factor' gives us 855 RWHP, which is right in the expected range.

Add my car to the list of the monsters about to come out of Doug Levin's shop. My car is a gen I 95 R/T 10 which is to have the newest system (Intercooler included)available from DLM for gen I cars. In the next few weeks I will gladly share with all, the numbers and pics of the final product. In the mean time, I too am sitting on pins and needles waiting for the day my car returns for some serious driving pleasure.

pffft, 855 my ***,
OK looks like some people might take that the wrong way. I meant it like I BET that'll be about 50 to 100 RWHP HIGHER than that number. Way too conservative of a guess. Quit being So modest will ya!?.. That's what I meant by it...

Around town, I drive the car hard (sprinting from stoplight to stoplight). I get the same 11-12 MPG that I was getting before I had the SC put on. On the highway, about 20MPG.

Doug is absolutely one of the most sincere guys I know. Always a big help. I've always referred friends to him (and their still my friends

). My gas mileage is not too bad as long as I don't get to greedy with the boost. We have long roads and highways and while just cruising it doesn't seem to be much different from stock, I think??. Been a while since stock.

If i wasn't going into the AF, I think using my Aerospace Maintenance degree (and all my tools) and working on some vipers would be cool!!!!!!!
