Herb's articles arent useless....unless of course you consider being told "go to your Dodge dealer" time after time useless. Oh wait...you have a point. I think Chuck would be an AWESOME choice to do the articles

I wish we could replace Herb Helbig's useless articles with Chuck Tator's tech genius.

Not to discount Chuck's crafty genius, but when dispensing Media Advice, genius Herb Helbig has one HUGE factor at play that the rest of us guru-types to not:

D-C LAWYERS !!!! Herb knows a lot, but has to use Dodge-Speak (D-C Speak) in all his published answers. You should see him at FREC or the AZ Proving Grounds, tearing apart and tinkering, and then DRIVING what he helps create. Pleaze Don't Diss Herbie........have a beer w/ him at VOI-9 and be blessed. He is a HUGE reason that our Snakes are what they ARE......

I don't deny what you said but his articles still ****. And since you pointed out that it has to be D-C speak, I guess Tator would also be bound to those same rules. That tech section is such a waste.

Hey Tator, how about creating your own independent tech letter. For a fee of course.

Re: AviP's comment and concurring comments. Herb Helbig is to the Viper Nation what Moses was, and is, to the Judeo - Christian tradition. He continues to visit the headquaters mountain and come back with Viper building authorization. It is not written on stone tablets but paper memos and email are good enough for me. However, unlike Moses, Herb is still alive. As head of SRT vehicle synthesis, he is our biggest asset inside the Chrysler establishment. He is a life long gearhead and a dedicated Viper fan. Dissing him is nothing more than self destructive ignorance. Next time think before you write. You owe Herb an apology.

No one is talking about the man's qualifications or integrity. The Viper tech column in the Viper quarterly *****. Face it.

REad half of it today. Got mine too. The article on the artwork was pretty cool. I might look into some of that stuff. It would be pretty cool to have a piece of art of my piece of art. ;)

Why should I apologize because his articles **** or he's bound to D-C rules? Read my posts before you attack me. I never questioned his intellect or his contributions to the Viper program. I just don't like his tech articles. Heck, this forum has given better advice than Herb. Does that mean that every useful contributor is better than Herb when it comes to Vipers? No. It means that Herb does not contribute anything useful to the tech articles.

According to the Winter Mag, there was supposed to be an article about the Roush coupe. I didn't see anything.

I am a relatively new VCA member and just read my very first VIPER quarterly and before I even saw this post, I thought to myself "Hmmm, that tech article was not very helpful...really useless" Just stating a fact. No offense to Mr. Helbig if he is bound by DC speak.

If I was 'bound' by rules and legal crap, I wouldn't put my name on it. Duh.

Fall 2003: A guy asks about brake bias, and that he's locking up the front during an autocross:

ANSWER: This is a complicated question and there is not a simple answer.....we do not condone or recommend that you tamper with any part of the system.

The centerfold is actually an artists rendition of the 1995 GTS show car.
I think this same art was also on a VOI poster.

PS: We USED TO HAVE a forum here titled "Stump The Gurus" or some such, that was actually set up for 2-3 specific folks to be your answer-men. Those Gurus frequently were honored with "unofficial" input from ABOVE that was NOT Dodge speak....but had 'the right stuff.' Unfortunately, some VCA officers at the time (began at Zone level) saw fit to disband that wonderful forum, and flushed away the 'unofficial' comments we were priviliged to receive.

Check Out the archives from some good stuff!
