Had my friend spray it last week. Check it out. Came out great and it only cost me $800.
Great option against a wrap.

I agree, first pic looks just Bad Ass....but if you like it then that's the most important thing. Not too many Matte Black Vipers around

Yea no doubt before is much sweeter looking, but i have been driving it that way for about 3 yrs now and just wanted to mess with the car a lil.
I am much more at ease driving it and parking it at stores bc im not worried about people rubing and scratching paint. the plasti dip protects it.
Also once i get tired of it, we can spray it a different color or i will just peal it off and have my original paint. Thats the beauty of this stuff.

I actually drive it more now bc its like a new car, if that makes any sense, which im sure it does to most of us, who can add one mod and feel the same way.

My first pick is original color, but looks like you can always go back to it or change it. A fraction of a cost than wrapping.

yep reason i went with it is bc i called on wrap and quoted me about 5k and then would not guarantee my paint would not be damaged upon removal.

interesting. I also prefer the original color scheme, but if an $800 paint job means you drive the car more then i'd say you're way ahead. And at that price, you could even switch colors a few more times...and it won't harm your orignal (awesome) paint. cool concept. Post some pics when you decide to go to a different color. I bet you do.

Thought about this last year. Especially interesting in relation to track time protection. There is a web site dipyourcar or something like that. Looks like there are glossifiers if you want to go that way. Not alot of choices in color but you could experiment with color schemes pretty easily.

Painting over it isn't a good idea, it's not very solvent resistant. If you wanted to do some "real" painting, it would be best to peel the dip off. You can however spray more plasti-dip on top of it without issue. As far as color selection, off the shelf it is limited, but they sell all the supplies for a custom "mix your own" color. They also have glossifier, pearlizer, and metalizer products available to widen the color selection further.

Try something small first. Pick up a spray can of plasti-dip at home depot for $10 and "dip" some stuff and get familiar how it lays down and how thick/thin to do the coats. You can also play around with peeling it off to see how much effort it takes. Once you get the hang of it, it's not a big deal. Nothing to be scared of.

The best part is that it's easily reversible if you change your mind down the road. Once you get it going, the stuff literally just peels right off They also sell it in clear, so you can spray yourself a clear bra to protect against stone chips and whatnot(though it does dry satin).

Any pictures of this? I am debating it as I have seen it up close and some of the lines where you peel it doesn't look great to me.

I had my Viper plastidipped last year in white. The red stripes were matte red, but just spray paint.
The lines of the car did look great in matte white, but up close was terrible.
Took me a week to remove the stuff...

I plan on plasti-dipping my Viper in a few months, just not sure what color to go with. I will probably try a few out over the course of next year to find out what I will repaint my car as.

The white is very thin and takes a whole lot of coats to cover. It can look kind of spotty if you don't get it on evenly.

They told me that you need about 10 spray cans for a car.
So I thought, be wise and order 20.
For only 1 door I needed 6 cans...
So I bought 1 gallon and diluted it to 2 gallons.
It was just enough.
