K&N\'s Intstalled...Not what expected PART II

I just reinstalled the stock intake and the car is back to normal. Brutal - neck snapping acceleration. I still cannot believe this whole experience. I've had K&N systems on FOUR other cars and was happy with every one. Still in shock. What do I do now. It is not my nature to keep cars stock for long. Maybe I will have to forgive the French and buy some green filters with the smooth red bellows.

05 Venom- Even though I was not the selling vendor, if you would like, please ship the K&N setup to me, and I will diagnose it free of charge and return it to you- just pay the shipping.

I do not want you to be left with a bad experience due to something that could quite easily be a very simple problem.

Just include a check for 7.00 for the shipping back to NYC via UPS Insured. If you send it tomorrow, I will get it and be able to turn it around by weeks end.

Thanks,

Daniel, That is extremely considerate and generous of you. I'm still confused over the whole ordeal. I'm no professional tech but all the diameters, openings
filter, plastic bridge seem OK. Anyway I could probably ship it out to you
Thursday morning the 14th. (I'm in no rush to have it back by this weekend)
A tremendous thank you.

P.S. I did not mention the selling vendor because many people have dealt with
him on the forum and had nothing less than great experiences. I don't want one unsuccessful KN setup to tarnish his reputation. I was though disappointed it what he had to say regarding his return policy.

Thanks Again, Chris

Question- I just installed mine. I havent noticed any problems with power however, since I just bouaght the car, I don't think I would know the difference at this point. The car did feel feel like it had a bit more throttle feel... How large should the holes be? SHould I be concerned?

I'm in the exact same boat how do we make sure our K&N is good to go?

Well For the hell of it I did back to back dyno pulls on my 05 and there was a 10rwhp / 10rwtq gain from the K&N set up compared to stock.

I am having the same problem, I have lost that neck snapping feel after using the K & N setup. I would love to know where the problem lies as mine is collecting dust on the shop floor.

Re: K&N\'s Intstalled...Not what expected PART II

The problem is solved as far as the bad running of the engine. As discused before one need to remove the baffle and then remove the K & N filter assembly and clean any oil from inside the throttle body. Also remove and clean the two sensors with electric motor cleaner and air dry. I looked at mine and found that the two hose connections were much smaller than the stock, my unit was the lster design i was told, so I drilled them out to the same size as the stock unit. The stock air box does not come even close to fitting tight around the K & N plastic T assembly so I would suggest putting foam tape around it between the air filter box and the T connector, make sure you check mit with a flashlight as there is a ton of room between the two. Next one needs to remove the factory baffle from the ram air duct in the hood and again use foam tape to seal between the air box and the hood so no outside air enters except throuh the hood scoop. Be sure to disconnect the negitive battery post, 10 mm socket, and leave it off for a few minutes so that the computer is reset. This made a whole world of difference on my viper. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR KEYS IN YOUR POCKET BEFORE DISCONNECTING THE NEGITIVE BATTERY BECOUSE WHEN YOU REATTACH THE BATTERY CABLE THE WHOLE SYSTEM GOES INTO ANTI-THEIF MODE AND SHUTS DOWN. JUST OPEN THE DOOR WITH YOUR KEY, UNDER THE SIDE SCOOPS ON THE DRIVER DOOR IS A KEEY LOCK, AND GET IN AND START THE CAR AND LET IDLE FOR 10 MIN AND EVERYTHING WILL WORK AS IT DID BEFORE

Did this K&N system ever get shipped to Dan before the final install? If so, could we see the findings???
