I am trying to reprogram some key fobs on a 97 Viper. I have done this with a 96 RT/10 and for the most part all I had to do was ground the green wire. However with the 97 the green wire has some sort of female plug at the end, so I thought if I stick a wire in it and ground the wire it would work. Well it did not. Is there some where that I should have hooked the green wire into?

Also, with the 97 GTS can I use a newer style key fob or do I have to stick with the older looking one?

Any help with this would be great.

Thanks

You can use the newer style fobs no problem, speaking from experience.

You can use the new key fob as long as it's for a Viper.

I suspect that you're not getting good contact between the female plug and ground. Thread a small screw into the plug and use alligator clips on the screw and frame.

Ron,

I was under the impression that grounding the green wire was only good for Gen 1 cars. Does it work on Gen 2 also?

yes it will work for the gen II, but the green wire is located in the DLC data link connector under the dash to the far left. I took a piece of wire and actully stuck it in the pin and then grounded it when I was ready.
