Just a poll of the other parents on the board. At what age/size are you comfortable turning the airbag back on for your kids?

My child is only 10 years old, but she is almost 5' tall and close to 80 pounds- about the size of an average 12 year old! Not really sure at what point the airbag becomes a benefit in the event of an accident

Just use a ratchet strap to keep their head against the seat, works for my 4yr old!

I called the Chrysler help line when I got my car. The manual was not as clear as I would have liked. Rear facing(infant) seats need the airbag cut off switch. I think infants might not appreciate the finer details of a ride in the Viper. For kids the age and size of yours a booster seat is suggested to get the seat belt and airbag impact at the correct level. I found a booster seat in blue, of course.

Good question, NHTSA says turn the airbag off until the child is 12 (based upon average height/weight). But if you child is already there....? Safest thing would be to put in a 5 point harness, eh? That way there is no way the child could get that close to the airbag to endanger then during deployment. Guess I will have to consider that question myself when my 8 year old gets a few years older.

six or five point and viola' airbag is now a moot point and useless.
