Kumho\'s installed.. question..

uhhhh, I'm sand and rock blasting my car to death :(
Good thing I installed the 3M. I need to get MUCH more of it.. Very stiff and great around corners (better IMO than Mich sports) VERY VERY STICKY!!  yeahhHHhhhhhh   time to find some more bikes!

1/2 the price of Sports, TWICE the performance... Downside? Be careful in the rain and need to spend 30 bucks for a roll of clear 3M for lip of side sills and lip of rear fender wells. I guess if the inside of the fender wells get blasted, that's why they make Kyrlon Black?

Question: Of those that have these.... Since the tread is much softer, what is the recommended PSI for maximum tire life??

Re: Kumho\'s installed..

Do you have any close up photos of the 3M applied? Is it noticeable, visually? I was thinking of getting some Kumho's for the rear of my RT/10.

Also, like Dave asked, what Kuhmos's did you get and what did they run you?

Lastly, how much do you notice the dirt and pebbles being kicked up? Is it VERY noticeable while you drive around, to where it sounds ridiculous inside the car?

Re: Kumho\'s installed..

my track tires on my miata are kuhmo victoracers and when i drive to the track q/ them on it sounds like somebody throwing sand or pebbles in the wheel wells! they are great though very good value(cheap) 70-80 bucks for the miata.

The 3M isn't noticeable at all. If you know it's there, you can tell..... I just simply put a couple strips on the outside of the side sills (and on top)and on the lip facing the rear of the front tire (kind of a hack job) and also cuts small thin strips and placed those on the rear lip of the 1/4 panel behind rear of the rear tire.. A professional could have done a much better job, but you can't see it since it's invisible..

I got theEcsta V700's (Tirerack.com offers 3 diff types, Heat cycled, Shaved or none of the above), DOT approved for street. I got the ones that aren't Shaved or Heat Cycled.

If I go through a parking lot, it's ridiculous how much sand and pebbles it picks up. But on the street, I really didnt notice anything. I find myself going around sandy spots and driving very slowing in sandy/pebbly parking lots.

Max

I have the BFG's and will hopefully mount them this week and I will let you know how they work out. I have heard great things about them.

I have ran both on my car and if kumho would make an 18" I would have them hands down! The BFG's are great for traction but they are terrible in the handling department. They get scary going fast or on an uneven road. The kumhos give you the best of both worlds plus I think they last longer but they do not have 18" so I am left to the more expensive BFG's.

Hi Guys....
Honestly?? My car feels SO much slower. I mean when it spun, it felt like I had all this power, now it's more difficult to break them loose. What a difference though! Dayyyyuuuum!

Re: Kumho\'s installed..

Gerald, congrats on the meats, if anyone on here needed them it's you!!!

I run 35ish all around and have great handling and launching, with your power level you might need to drop it a touch to get the same level of traction however!!!

get some videos up man!

the sound in the wheelwells is nuts at times, after 2 months with mine they look fine, although the tires are nearly gone. Not sure if I'll run them next time or not, still deciding, the life aspect is rough. Factoring in the price swings things back though.

take care,

I hear you Ryan  The sound is scary... Car honestly feels smoother to drive also, and I love the cornering aspecs, like the Viper needed any improving there also..

It's been raining here for a week, hard to find a dry road and I'm not about to find out the hydroplaning limits of the kumho's 1st hand.. ...
