How many labor hours would it take a Viper Tech to install headers and a cat-back exhaust system on a Gen II Viper? Is this something I can do myself? I have some mechanical experience. Thanks.

Takes me 3.5 Hours from start to finish to install a complete system. I have done it while customers waited. The system you buy has alot to do with installation time. I use and sell ONLY Belanger headers and exhaust, unlike some of my walmart competitors who have no knowledge of installing ANY of the dozens of systems that they ***** out. Please consider all of the facts and speak with real users not just salesmen when you are making a buying decision..the few hundred dollars you save buying brand "x" will be waisted on labor and fitment costs.

Feel free to contact me at any time regarding system purchase and installation procedures for Belanger headers as I am the original Belanger dealer and have NEVER offered any other exhaust products.

I laughed my *** off yesterday when I asked Hendrick Dodge in Cary how many hours to install rockers...Not that I would have them do it, I was just curious and asked while I was waiting for something...

They said 13 hours. I laughed and she didnt think I was too funny. Apparently they think you need to take the heads off. I asked as a joke, as they always never seem to let me down when coming back with outrageous quotes. I think it is hilarious.

Whats it really take? 2?

Garolittle, I am good at wrenching and no way could I install a set in 3.5 hours. But Tom has done more than a few and has it down.

FYI: I recently looked at a Viper that the guy had paid for installation. TERRIBLE! The motor was all scratched up. I could tell right off that the mechanic had a lot of trouble installing them.

I put the entire Belanger system on(with another guy)-- headers, pipes, mufflers in just under 4 hours. I did have use of a rack and air tools. It would have been much longer for me without those two things. The system bolted up perfectly.

Thanks ViperJim. I am not sure if I am ready to try it myself but it would save a fair amount of money. Good luck with your installation and let us know how it all turns out.

Thanks guys. While I am still 6 months away from my next RT/10, I am already suffering from "modification" fever. This is excellent feedback.

I just installed the Belanger system on my 96 R/T. I had, or thought I had a fitment problem and called BTR. He told me exactly what to do and it was a perfect fit. I had my car up on jack stands and it took just over 6 hours with hand tools. Not difficult, just time consuming.

How would the belanger headers work or "fit" with a borla 3inch cat back exhaust? Would I have to change the converters or could I leave the stock ones? Do you have to rap up belanger headers or are they coated with heat insulated material?

Tom or anyone else who installed the Belanger system
What type of cats did you use or were they upgraded?

I have installed Sean Roes cats on a few cars..a little tight because of their shape but not a hard installation. I have never re-installed stock cats. The belanger system is made to accomodate anything that can fit in a 36" length in the forward 1/2 of each sidesill.

I apoligive for my stupidity Tom. so are you saying alot of people just place straight pipe in place of the cats? Do the roe cats knock against the sills at anytime while driving?
