Cross posted from the Viper Alley, but wanted opinions here as well.

Guys, if given an opportunity to add either FOntana, Ca. or Las Vegas, NV. as a city to race in the V10- Nationals, which would you most likely attend?

Las Vegas would be great for racing and then having a blast at night (it's Vegas!) Done late in the year, the temps would be good. However, it is several thousand feet up in elevation.

Fontana is a good track here in southern California, and the elevation is great. It's no Las Vegas though in terms of entertainment afterwards, especially for those that drive a distance to get here. I would certainly be up for hosting a big party at my place afterwards, here in San Diego -- there's parking for at least 50 cars out in front :)

OK, I agree. Let's concentrate on Vegas. Myself and UtahViper are working on the details now. I'd love to see an event in October or November of this year. Every month up until September is already scheduled somewhere.

So, can I get a rollcall as to who would attend, either to watch or to race? I'll start it off.

Vegas or Fontana I'll be there. I can't wait to show off my 2nd gear to 5th gear shifting skills. Wasn't 3rd around there somewhere?

David (Dr.Roof) is suggesting a January event. The finals are in December, so that month is out. I would still love to get in there this year if at all possible -- late October or early Novermber. It is just miserably cold in Vegas after the New Year.

Utah, what kind of dates are available at the track?

I'm down for racing and watching, as long as they have a "launching your Viper" seminar.
:)
I can nail off some good shifts, but getting 500+ ft/lbs of torque off the line escapes me still...
;)
Once the car is moving, things go along fine. Just ask Mopar Man how my taillights look.

Good, so that is 4 people so far. We need about 20 more methinks.

David, how many racers do you normally have at your events?

Within reason, I wouldn't worry too much about elevation as everyone is in the same boat. Of course, the all-motor guys will suffer the most but I have forced induction, so that's ok ;)

That being said, LV sounds much more "interesting." I don't think I'd take my car to something that far away but just about any excuse for a trip to Vegas works for me.

1 vote for watch here.

i think the supra event is in october, and we can probably run with them. that way we can do the road coarse and the strip. manny can't wait to see your beast in vegas. i think me and todd will have a little surprise for you.

hey sam i think you have to take it to the track before you can judge if you can launch it or not(just egging you on to bring it to the track). over 900 ft pds of tq grips good on slicks. 675 tq launchs good on drag radials. even at midnight mayhem.

trent - how about some hints for launching a relatively stock Viper on Pilot Sports? BTW: we're talking about getting the local VCA club to LVMS for an evening test'n'tune.

Hey Trent,

Are you still running the same setup as you had the last time I was in your car? Your car was sick fast on the road course. It was because of YOU that I spun my Gen 1 off the track, trying to keep up with you in the twisties --- oh, and I was gaining fast... a little too fast! Ha. Hard to beat the Gen 2 suspension set up with a Gen 1.

So what kind of surprise will you have? Are you talking about your water or **** injection set up?

My car's engine isn't set up for road coursing. I would need to talk to DLM to see what it would take, but I just don't think a Supercharged 1000+ HP car is going to stay cool enough of a road course where you are wide open throttle so much. Your car was about 550 RWHP when you had it at the track, right? I would also be worried about oil starvation in my car with all thoe turns.

Todd/Trent, how busy is the Supra event at the track? I'd hate to go and only get 3 or 4 runs in. I'd love to be at an event where I can get 8 or 10 runs in over the day.

trent - we're looking at putting it together after the really hot weather is over, so probably some time in Sept. Daniel pulled on my car after I muffed the shift into 3rd. He may have pulled away anyway but not by much.

manny i have a built motor, heads and cam being done to the blower **** injection system right now. hopefully with that combo i put down enuff power not to have to add another power adder. we should be able to get more than 5 runs in without a problem if we can run with the supras. you can run at least a couple of laps on that road coarse with your beast.

mopar man you need to talk to marko to see if we can get a viper event together. v-10 nationals if the vegas vca is going to set up something in sept anyways.
manny get a hold of marko the nevada vca prez if you want to get something going. also the southern cali vca, greg baxter.

trent - it came up at the last VCA meeting (where were you by the way?). Jay originally brought it up and it only got brief discussion - Marko didn't seem all that excited at that time.

Seems like the VCA's are typically more interested in cruises and breakfasts than they are drag racing events, or so I have heard. Not sure how the souther cali and Vegas chapters are.

Our chapter is mostly doing cruises and breakfasts as well. There are a few of us who want to do some other stuff (hence the T-N-T at LVMS talk).

I called the LVMS and talked to craig who is in charge of drag strip scheduling. He said that there are times available in october and november for an entire track rental. The only problem is cost. $10,000 per day plus $140 per hour for safety/emergency. YOu are looking at close to $11,500 per day. $6,000 on the weekdays plus the $140 per hour. I was thinking of possibly piggy backing one of the other events which would be a cost per car of $35-70 and we could still run the event but we wouldn't have the track to ourselves. I don't know how this would work but I know that the LVMS can run 1000 race cars without any problems.

Chris who is the boss there is supposed to look into the possibilty of running a piggy back event. They are supposed to call me back. I will let you know when they do. I told them that we would have around 50 cars there. I don't think anymore is possible but only time will tell. I think an event in February or beginning of march would possibly be more feasible than this year given the schedule of the v10 nationals.

Marko and Greg are definitely the guys to talk to but we need to get West coast viper and DC performance to sponser a part of this event. I think both of them would and they would also bring cars there to show off. This is a great venue for vendors to give people rides in their cars and show off their technology/tuning abilities.

If you want to piggyback with another club, I can get at least 20 cars from the F-body club here, most likely more.
