Last of the 2003\'s observations

Just got my SRT-10 from Woodhouse Saturday. I was worried about the transition from the '02 GTS to the '03 SRT, but after the first 200 miles......I made the right decision! Even during break-in, it feels like a Viper. A lot of the things people have commented on are true, other issues I just don't see.

Cockpit heat: OMG, there are strange sudden bursts of hot air! I've owned many convertibles (have a Z4 now) and never experienced the instant sauna effect. It's so easy to fix with the clever visors (the new crotch coolers)

Gauges: Love em. SO bright at night on the highest setting, and the top gauge needs a glare cover or lip. It wasn't annoying until I re-read someones post here about it. THANKS!

Seats: Tight! I love 'em! I'm 6' and 165lbs. They fit me perfectly. My mom loved them, my dad hated them.....go figure.

Roof: Leaks! Oh well, not every one can be water tight from the factory.

Style: Draws more attention than the GTS! I had people commenting and honking and thumbs up everywhere. One guy said, 'wow a $115K car!' I said no, only $85K
I didn't get the active suspension or Nav system like the Escalade!

Power: Hard to tell during break-in. Seat of the pants feels good, but still not scary fast like I want.

Sound: Good but quiet like others have said. I need tips on what to remove guys! Where's the muffler?

Stereo: I know, who cares......It's not as good as I expected. The Z4's is better. I have a Bazooka triangle cannon that fit perfectly in the GTS, but nowhere to put it in the SRT. I don't think I need to rattle my license plate on this one.

Quality: Pretty good for Chrysler, not so good for Daimler. A couple paint inclusions, hood to front bumper cover is a little uneven, but fixable. Door gaps not so good, and the previously mentioned leaky roof. Also the clutch gave me some problems. On some stops I found that I couldn't get the car to go into gear. When I pushed the clutch a couple times, it seemed to 'pump up'. Maybe some air bubbles in the system??? I don't think anyone has mentioned this one yet. Ideas would be appreciated before I bring it in. Interior quality is great.

I guess that's enough for now. Sorry for those who read this and have had their SRT's for a while, it must seem like old news. I am a newbie and overall I'm thrilled with the car.

Nice write-up. I enjoyed hearing what you had to say. Hopefully the few issues you had will be resolved easily. Congrats on your new toy. :)
