Does anyone know of a particular brand of tinted plastic license plate cover that fits the dimensions of the '01 RT/10?

The tinted license plate cover I purchased does not fit because it is to tall. Thanks.

Hey J,Get the Polished MGW plate and back it up with some 1/16 tinted plastic. The big polished look matches the wheels.

Yellow Snake I just put one on my 00 GTS I'm think it will work. IT barly fit. IT's called cruiser combo kit. I got it at pep boys. IT comes in clear or tinted convexed shield with a crome frame that looks just right. Make sure and get a screw kit that fits the crome buttons and are long enough. I had to get them from another store. Personally I think the clear looks better than the tinted, not to mention its legal every where. When you wash the car it fogs up a bit but clears up pretty quickly. Dont try to seal it you will make it worse. Cant believe I got something from Pep Boys for my car that looks so good.

I found a license plate site here on line months ago. So I don't recall the name. It carried frames in all different sizes.
I ordered what they call the skinny frame made for mostly Euro cars. it fits perfect nice chrome. I put no plastic over my plate. And picked up chrome (alan wrench tool) bolts. (for security) And the install was perfect no headache and looks great. Mgw is nice to but too big for my liking.

good luck

As for bolts, JonB at PartsRack.com carries some seriously cool looking Viper-logo license plate bolts. Not sure of the price, but the pictures I've seen of them look really neat.

Not so fast....New York State prohibits ANY covering over plates. Are they the ONLY state with this prohibition?

city snake,
the pd is going to love me.
the new photo radar plastic i installed can only be seen clearly
if directly behind the plate. 1 ft to the left or right it is nothing but a blurr.

I guess that should have checked it first. oops.
well, at least it is only an equipment violation right??

Yes Jim, I believe it's an equipment violation so it probably depends on the county and the officer - If you get hit for speeding you'll probably get hit for the covering

. I shouldn't be talking since I haven't even installed a front plate! Sure your "photo radar plastic" is a LOT less noticable. BTW, what the heck IS "photo radar plastic".

California is similar. Anything covering the letters and/or numbers is illegal. No one I know has volunteered to share that they have been stopped for it. Now, if you were to put some kind of radar deflective material or photo defeating material on there, I am sure they would be on you like "white on rice". Interestingly enough, most if not all, the light cameras are still inoperative due to legal disputes over the legitimacy of said equiptment and it's makers.

I searched on the web and found http://www.1-radar-laser-jammers-detectors.com/photo-radar.html who carries the Chameleon™ for $49.00.

That website says, "The Chameleon™ masks the characters of your license plate from the known angle at which the roadside camera works. Using lenticular plastic fresnel lenses, the plate characters are obscured between 22 and 45 degrees. The resulting photograph shows a solid silver mask over your license plate characters, making your plate unreadable. Unlike the Chameleon's™ competition, the plastic cover is completely clear. It doesn't give your license plate a smoke color."

Is this the one all of you were talking about?

city snake,
I too didn't go with the front plate.
I bought my plastic from radar busters online.
but I am not sure I will install it.
It is really, really unreadable at an angle.
I think if I do put it on like quoted "they will be on me like white on rice"
on occasion I like to run up to Canada for a drive and I know the boarder cameras are on an angle and those guys will come running out of the office to "discuss" what I am up to.

Didn't think it would be so obvious. oh well.
