I have undertaken a project at the request of one of my Road race clients to see if it is viable to make a light weight Coupe hatch that would use a lexan rear window.
parameters are:
Extreme light weight (approx 12 lbs with Lexan)
Race quality (stronger than factory)
PRepreg carbon fiber construction.
This would effectively save a ton of weight right off the top of teh Coupe race cars, savings of ALOT (still have to weigh one)
I have quotes to me being done right now by the same shop that makes the C6R for Pratt Miller, so the quality and weight savings will be there but these will be RACE PARTS, and the cost will not be small.
These will be delivered in a primer finish ready for paint and an option for a pretty version which will be just as light but will be nice visual twill carbon fiber.
Please chime in if you are interested, we could mold and be delivering in 30-45 days
Combine this with our Pin on Race hood which already saves 35-40 lbs and you have a good start to some significant weight savings
