So my battery got really low, not totally dead, but I needed to jump the car.

The jump went fine, but now the check engine light is on and there is this weird flashing red lightning bolt thing blinking and the car won't rev pass 3k...maybe less.

Is this normal if the car needs a jump?

anyway to reset the lights and get it out of limp mode without going to a dealer? Anyone else successfully fixed this on their own?

I tried searching for limp mode etc, but couldn't find this issue discussed or resolved.

thanks

2008. I turned it off and back in. It's not in limp mode anymore. The flashing lightning bolt thing is gone but the check engine light is still on.

Normal for CEL to be on after a dead battery (engine timer code) It will go away after a few drive cycles.

You probably have set code P2610. PCM INTERNAL SHUTDOWN TIMER RATIONALITY TOO FAST.
Its normal to set this code when your battery voltage gets too low or you disconnect the battery. Either clear it with a code reader or it will go away after 3 engine starts.

Thanks. I restarted the car and it went out of limp mode, but the CEL is still on which seems to be the normal thing. Will drive it around for a while and see if it restarts after a few power cycles.

I highly recommend you buy a new battery. If original, yours is probably at least 7 years old now, has been discharged (this internally damages the battery) and is needing to push power all the way from the back of the car to the front which makes any flaws in the battery that much more of an issue. The CEL is normal at this point, but a new battery is a very wise investment.

I've had very good luck with the Sears Diehard Platinum, which is an absorbed glass mat design and really can spin that big V10. Once installed, keep it on a name brand quality battery tender that is designed for the absorbed glass mat design.

I agree 100%, specially about using a battery tender if you plan on leaving your car sit for an extended period of time. They are fairly cheap and very effective at keeping the battery charged during hibernation.

I had to replace my battery last winter on my 2008 with a Sears Diehard Platinum, so I'm sure that the OP should be due for a new battery as well.

What battery tender do you guys recommend for the Sears Diehard Platinum battery?

"What battery tender do you guys recommend for the Sears Diehard Platinum battery? "

I use Deltran Battery Tender Plus units on 3 Vipers with Die-Hard Platinum batteries.

NOTE: I periodically charge them with a newer Sears charger as they added a "Platinum" setting on their chargers a couple of years age. Charger has different charging algorithm in that setting...or, so their instructions say.
