I've got a linelock from TCI, not Hurst, but I think there is a risk of burning out the solenoid itself. The instructions state that the product "is designed to act as a temporary braking system for up to sixty (60) seconds."

why is momentary safer? simply toggle on and toggle off, not too complex??

also, the momentary provided by hurst doesnt really fit anywhere aesthetically in the interior, a toggle or button type toggle would look perfect and fit as if OEM

Momentary - requires you to actively hold the button in.
flip switch - could be accidently switched.

I'm guessing like HP says, it's for safety. You're driving down the road and you accidentally bump the lock on... front brakes won't work when you go to use them.

Also, a lot of people use the horn for the line lock as it's on the steering wheel... you can shift with one, and steer and operate the LL with the other.

re; accidental bumping of switch.

i didnt think thatd be possible, even if you hit the button dont you have to tap the breaks as well? the lock simply prevents fluid from escaping until you replease the momentary switch right? so, if you were to say accidently hit the button while driving nothing would happen unless you also pressed the brakes right?

Right - it only holds the pressure that was present when you turn it on.
A flip switch is not wrong - it's just not the ordinary

If you accidently left the switch on - you wouldn't have any power to the
front brakes - maybe that's why the momentary switch is used.

I hid my Hurst switch in the ashtray. When I want to use it, I open the ashtray and push the button. It's real clean and out of the way.

seems incovenient for drag racing though isnt it?

Not at all. I have the fastest times for an S/C-only viper with three different drivers. We all used the line lock as I have it set up. The line lock is really only necessary for doing burnouts. I haven't had to use it for staging.

Yeah HP, that's what I mean. You're driving down the road, you accidentally hit the switch, and it locks the front brake lines shut. Then you stand on the brakes, and the fluid can't get to your front calipers. I don't know about you, but no front brakes, with locked up back brakes sounds scary to me. Chances of it happening, especially if you keep the switch in a safe place like Gary, are very small. A lot of people here use a toggle to "arm" it.. the horn is now the momentary switch (and the horn disconnected of course). To me this still seems like the same danger.. you accidentally flick the switch, then when some idiot cuts you off, you go for the brakes and the horn ;)
