Anyone know of a link with pics and text on changing the transmission and rear end differential fluids?
Thanks

I really don't remember such a link with step by step photos...but it is very easy to do yourself. I have fashioned a few "tools" that make handling the fluids easier...such as a pressure pump to deliver tranny fluid...will be glad to share thoughts with you.

Warm all fluids by driving at least 30 min....diff fluid can be VERY THICK.

Tranny...remove plate (10-12 bolts, use 15mm socket), open drain plug using SQUARE 3/8 inch male pipe plug socket or a short 3/8 inch drive (at rear on right side), dump fluid. When down to occasional drip, replace drain plug...torque to 28 ft-lbs.

To fill, remove fill plug (using same square drive)actually, I loosen it prior to fluid dump...located at left rear, high up on tranny, with a fluid sticker below it... Fill with appropriate tranny fluid til just below opening hole...but as this is very hard to see, I fill it til fluid runs out, and quits dripping)... replace plug, tighten to 20 ft-lbs. Many use MOPAR "Synthetic Manual Transmission Lube75w85"...as do I in 1999-2003 Vipers...though I stick with Dexron III in our 95, 96, 97. It takes 4 quarts to fill ( PS..Dexron III superceeds Dexron IIE...but DO NOT confuse it with ATF+3 or ATF+4 as some have done). (Do a search covering past 6 weeks for full explanation of fluid choices)

For diff, remove plug with 3/8 inch hex Allen male socket: I **** out fluid with a modified brake bleeder driven off of air compressor)...then refill with "MOPAR 75w140 Synthetic gear and axle lube PLUS 4oz of the synthetic additive(takes about 44 ozs TOTAL)...replace plug, torque to 180 INCH-lbs ( NOT FOOT LBS !!!)

Hopefully others will share thoughts as well....but this can help you start planning...having FUN...and saving $$$$, while you get to know your Snake !!!

Thanks Steve. That plate was a concern, looks like it has some kind of sealer oozing out around its perimeter, hopefully it won't be too hard to pry loose after removing the bolts. I saw that drain plug modification to the rear axle in the tips section, looks like a great idea in aiding fluid removal, but I'm not brave enough to take a drill to the axle housing.
Cheers

A $10 pump at Autozone (looks like a small bike pump) will work excellent to **** out the diff fluid if you can't get Steve's tool. Stick one end in the hole and move all around while other end is in container. Best if someone else moves the tube around while you pump because I pumped like crazy to get everything out.

The plate will come right off, no problem.

Filling the tranny is a pain because there simply isn't much room. I ended up buying a 3 foot hose that fit in the fill hole (took plug to store and got one that was small enough to have a little play) put one end in hole and routed other up and outside car. Had uncle simply fill from top while I held tube in hole. Had container ready to catch fluid pouring out and I knew we were done. Easy jobs to do, a little messy but I wouldn't consider taking to anyone to do.
