Can I refill my 97 GTS with the 5-year Long -Life Antifreeze. Or do I just stick with the regular ?

Thanks

if you are refering to DexCool- (orange stuff) MAKE SURE you get all of the green stuff out, then flush it. then flush it again. and again, and again! you cannot mix the two, or the whole point of switching gets ruined. BTW, I heard a rumor today from a friend who works at Advance Auto Parts that DexCool has been clogging radiators and coating pump impellers lately, not sure if it's true, but worth the message.

Thought to pull up this old post. Gen1's came with green antifreeze. Newer Vipers have the new orange antifreeze. I read a Car and driver article and they said Zerex G5 is the best so I bought some and it's yellow!

What do you guys recommend to use?

My research supports Dexcool. After reading several SAE papers and discussing with those in the know, I put it in 4 of my vehicles about 4 years ago. Opened up two of the systems recently (hose and thermostat change) and inspected internal parts that were made of iron, aluminum and brass. Everything looked as new with no sign of corrosion anywhere.

Many rumors and old wives tales exist about "orange" coolants, but "if" you are the type to change from factory specs, Dexcool is the one I'd move to. Why? Besides the extended coolant life, you have better heat transfer, longer water pump life and superior corrosion protection.
