Looks great, what did you clean it with? I mean, that arm looks like new! How's you get the surface rust off and other stuff?

Looks great. Give me some time saving tips so I don't waste my time with the old 'Trial & Error' method. My initial thoughts were to blast it with a degreaser/engine cleaner, hose off, then clean wear needed. What was your method?

Thanks

Doug Levin gave me some good advice that seemed to work pretty well. I use non-clorinated brake cleaner and 125 PSI air gun. Got some great results too.

Thanks Doug!

I just did this to my car over the weekend. It doens't look as nice as yours, Steve, but I have to say after 2000 miles and a Viperdays event, it was looking 'in need.' Nice job (but you bum-me-out I didn't take photos

).

It's sort of a non-flammable paint thinner used for cleaning. There's also something called Naptha - very similar. Home Depot carries them in 1 gal cans in the paint section.

Whoops. Just saw you're in Bavaria. Home Depot is a home maintenance supply store.

Nice job Steve.

you wrote... " The only rust I had was on all 4 wheels hubs.
Do other Viper owners have this rust on their hubs?)"

Yes all have this rust... at least until you have gone through
the process you just finished " and " painted the hubs with
silver paint. Another trick before you start the process of
cleaning up in the wheel wells is to remove the wheels and
paint the brake roter caps silver and then put the wheels back
on and drive the car around the block. The brake pads will
cut the over spray on the roters perfectly. Now when you get
done with all the cleaning make sure you change out the brake
pads, just like you did. To keep everything a little cleaner
under there you can also apply a thin coat of " clear Laquer "
the coat will look like you armerall'd everything but wont wash
off like armerall.

If you are having any problem getting the brake caliper housing
clean from brake residue just take a very small amount of brake
fluid on a rag and wipe the residue off. By doing this you can
get the front housing with the words " Viper " to look just like
new again and the white color of the words will be white again
just like when you bought the car new.

Spray simple green on everything, wait a few minutes and hose it off. I had the same results in 10 minutes of effort. And that is after going thru 10 sets of brake pads over the last two years.

Daddy: what is "simple green" - kind of soap or cleansing agent?

Simple Green has a new line out called Pro series for cars. I used it last weekend on my car, which was up on a lift. Engine compartment, fender wells, suspension, and undercarriage all came out great. Easy to use. Wet down the parts you want to clean with water. Spray on Simple Green and let it stand for a few minutes. I used a wheel wash brush to scrub the parts. Spray off with water. The quart spray bottle was $3.99 at Pep Boys.

Just make sure you wear glasses cause that stuff will be dripping all over you. Tome was covered in grime when he was done, too bad I didn't have a camera with???

I use "Formula 88" on everything! You can buy this stuff any place. Grocery stores, auto parts places, all over town. I clean the engine with it too. I just cover the filter on the supercharger and spray away. Try it ... good stuff.
