Hi

As you've probably already seen on my ad the price I'm looking for my 2006 2006 Dodge Viper is 59K. I've decided to lower the price because of the low interest of the buyers.
The car is in perfect condition, there's not even a scratch on it. Everything from the motor to the tiers and mirrors is shining and looking brand new.I have a clear title for it , no liens or loans. No paintwork .You can run a carfax 1B3JZ65Z66V100153 .I will only conclude the transaction through eBay for our own protection. They act as a neutral third party. I shall explain to you the process, so that you know what you are getting into!
If we decide to proceed with this transaction, i will have to contact eBay and provide them all the necessary information, so they can start the process right away. I will be needing your full name and address for that. You will receive a notification from eBay shortly after that, together with all the instructions to follow and the invoice as well.
Regarding the payment, you will be instructed to deposit the money to an eBay account. They will hold and insure your money until receipt of the car in good condition.
That is how their buyer protection policy is working. As far as the seller concerns, i will be glad to know that eBay has the possession of the money during the delivery period. That is my insurance.
As soon as i will have the confirmation from eBay that the funds have been deposited to their account, i will immediately start the shipping process.
The car will be delivered to your address in no more than 10 working days. You will be given a 15 days inspection period from the day you receive the car at home.
If you decide to hold the car, then you will have to authorize eBay to release the funds to me, and the transaction will be completed. If you will not be satisfied with the car, you will be able to send the car back through the same shipping company, and ask eBay to return the funds to you.
Though i am sure you will love the car and will not want to return it, it is good to know that you do have this second option available.
I want to point out that because i am in the process of moving because of changing my working place, i am after a fast transaction, with no delays. That is why i decided to lower the price, to avoid wasting time with negotiations and find a buyer as soon as possible.
If you wish to proceed with the purchase, please provide me your full name and address so I can initiate the deal through EBay right away.

For any questions please email me

Thanks
Robin

LOL! I get these same type of scam emails on computers, firearms, RC planes, and like you - cars. The scammer notes what you are bidding on to get your email address. Some even create a false listing so if you ask questions and / or bid, they have your email address and area of interest.

But nothing beats the "I want to give you money from the Ethiopian government" attempts. :)

I got one from a guy who was trying to sell me an 03' for $6,700. He told me all this BS and how it was yellow (which we all know wasn't even out yet in 03') and then when I told him I wanted to call him he told me he just had "ears surgeries" so he couldn't talk.

So then I believed him and sent him all my account info

I also got this e-mail, but I requested it since I had seen the car on Auto Trader. I too thought it was a scam but how can you lose if E bay is holding the money? I am in the market for an 05 or 06 so since I have his phone # I will call him and tell him I am only 150 mi away and since the car is under warranty, after a close visual and driving test we can do business now. So, how can the E bay thing be a scam?

As a result of buying several cars off EBay - I can assure you the process does not work that way. Call him, go look at it, ask to see the title, go to the DMV and verify the title authenticity (a friend of mine got burnt on that one - stolen car with fake title, and it was a cash deal unfortunately), and ONLY THEN let money change hands.

I am aware of most scams but the title thing is something I would have overlooked. Everything can be counterfeited! Had I done the e bay thing I would have done what they suggest and use an escrow.
