I am a long time Viper fan always have loved the looks and performance. But due to right shoulder problems pins in my shoulder and elbow I have been limited to automatics. Dont hate me but I Currently have C6 Grand Sport and have owned several Vettes along with Porsche Carrera and BMW M6 & 650. The question I have does anyone have any inside info as to the Trans options on the next Gen Viper? If they were to offer a automatic I would be in line waiting to buy one. I know most of you guys frown on an automatic in the Viper but for me it would be a blessing. Hopefully a Viper owner in the near future. BTW this forum rocks I have never seen so many beautiful Vipers. Thanks for any info you can offer.

If you read the threads/ forums/ articles on this you can get the feeling that the direction they want to go in the market in order to survive is to strike a balance between staying true to the Viper for what it is and trying to appeal to a wider audience. A very difficult spot to be in no doubt! If it doesn't happen next year I'd bet it is soon around the corner.

In a recent Viper magazine, they featured a Viper that had an auto conversion. I'm sure it wasn't cheap, but Gen 3 vipers are pretty inexpensive now.

I have no idea what Dodge is planning for the Gen 5, but I'd be very surprised to see an auto.

as stated above, even if its not available, buy an inexpensive gen 2 or 3 and get an auto conversion

Thanks for the info. I really want a new Gen v or possibly a Gen IV as I really like this look. May have to spend the extra bucks for a conversion? I am looking forward to learning from you guys and this forum. Thanks again.

Contact Mark Jorgensen (VCA: mjorgensen) at WoodHouse, I believe he is familiar with the automatic conversion cost/install. Not sure but I think it is North of 20k?
