Here is a link to an extensive list of local (greater Kansas City/Springfield/Wichita) car shows and cruises:
http://clubs.hemmings.com/clubsites/acckc/EventFinder.cfm
If you scroll towards the bottom, you will find most of the area weekly/monthly cruise nights also listed. For example, on the 3rd Saturday of every month there is a HUGE cruise at the Winsteads on Metcalf near 103rd Street. Just a few blocks down is a good Mopar cruise at the Backyard Burgers just off Metcalf on 95th Street. And of course the 4th Saturday of the month brings the Belton Cruise.
Want more action with your Viper? No problem! There are numerous autocross events throughout the season here in Kansas City:

Check out Crown Autocross or the regional SCCA site too:

Prefer your entertainment a quarter mile at a time? No problem! Kansas City has two great venues within easy driving distance. The closest is KCIR in Independence on Noland Road. While their website isn't updated often enough, you can generally count on "test 'n tune" nights on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sunday afternoons. And if you are REALLY gutsy, on June 6th they will be interviewing people to be on the PINKS TV show. Your chance for fame and fortune! Okay, fame only:

And of course Heartland Park in Topeka offers not only great drag racing, but one of the best road courses in the country. Their drag racing program offers occasional open nights on Wednesdays or Fridays:

Their road course also offers some great open track days/nights. Look for Test Days and Touring Club Days:

So you aren't a Dan Gordon and want some seat time with an instructor first? No problem! You will notice on that last schedule that some area clubs (Porsche & BMW) have Driver Education weekends. Not just restricted to their own club members, they are GREAT opportunities to learn more about the handling characteristics on a full road course with an instructor by your side. To sign up just go to their websites:
http://www.kcrpca.org/ (local Porsche Club - website is not easy to use)
The link directly to the BMW Drivers Education information page:

Whew! So that should keep you Viper owners VERY busy this summer, not to mention all the great local VCA events. So if you ever get bored around here you just aren't trying!
