My big concern is whether a tranny fix/replace is covered if a car has headers and exhaust mods with NO engine, tranny or rear gear mods whatsoever.

Anyone out there who's (i) tracked their car (BUT NO RACING) and had their tranny replaced under the factory extended warranty, or (ii) installed similar bolt on mods and had their tranny replaced under the factory extended warranty ?? After getting my recent court battle results, I guess I am REALLY gun shy now about coverage issues !! ;)

This just hasn't been my week. :(

You were around for my tranny replacement under factory extended warranty, but my mods were hi-flo cats and corsa exhaust (i.e., no engine/tranny/rear-end gear mods) - drop me a PM if you need more info.

Replace a tranny? Are you kidding? They'll probably replace the synchronizers and you'll be on your way. I can't see them giving you a new tranny when they can fix it after they pull it. It probably isn't something major.

Any dealership worth it's salt will replace it. I took a TNT Kingsnake to my local dealer and had the tranny replaced under warranty. I wouldn't mention the racing part though, a picky service writer could probably void the warranty if he wanted to be a ****. They probably won't fix your's though. They should just give you a new unit.

Man I hope you are right ! I know NOTHING about transmissions so I don't mean to imply the whole thing's shot. Just 5th (as far as i could tell).

As Janni said, Dodge will NOT fix or rebuild a tranny, they replace it with a "NEW" tranny, if they replace yours you will get the new '03 tranny. Dodge replaced my tranny under orig. 36 month warranty, I had Bellanger headers, catbacks and hi-flow cats and they knew I tracked my car (but I wouldn't advertise that).BTW I had the same 5th gear problem.

Just like before Dodge dealers never serviced head gaskets. Now many dealers are doing it instead of sending the motors back to Arrow...manual trannies aren't as complex as one would think. I have rebuilt a few older manual trannies - Borg Warner T-10's and 833's...just need a diagram and a service manual...

Rebuilding isn't difficult. At worst, a local shop that does T-56 transmissions from Corvettes or Camaros can do it - the parts are in the same place, just slightly different sizes. And here's the manual: T-56 manual
