I have a 2001 RT/10 Viper, I put a set of Ballanger Headers a Corsa Exhaust with High Flow Cats, Smooth Tubes and K&N Filters. When I left the place I had everything installed I could floor it and it would start to burn em off up to about 30 mph. Now a Month later no more sliding at all? Why the sudden loss of power? Can you Help.

Thank You,
JC

jesus i got the best best tires you can buy (BFG) on my 99 R/T bone stock and i can smoke em with less then 25% throttle.

As far as your power loss if you had to floor it to spin em you had a power loss from the jump, I don't see how those upgrades can make it worse I would think they would help you.

I would have it check by a GOOD viper tech he will do a compression test and such but it seems you were losing power all along.

This your first viper? or have your driven any other?

It was sliding when I put the extras on her, but then just stopped, is there a fuel filter hidden somewhere?

yes its mounted to the frame below the front of the fuel tank, your year does not have a pcv valve so you ok on that one.

BTW get only a mopar fuel filter from dodge, Mopar fuel filter #4708317 MSRP $34.75

Give Chuck Tator a call he will give you a great deal on it and a great deal on shipping. 914-763-3136

Also check your plugs and vacume lines and replaces if needed.

Keep in mind the viper is a very high performance and very tempermental thing

We can lose 50 horse from winter to summer. Before your mods was it cool out? Now is it warmer out? This is why we use corrected HP on our dyno test. My car makes more uncorrected power in the winter than corrected power.....but way down on uncorrected when it is hot out in the spring and summer. GB3

Why not put your VIN and/or VCA number in your profile and I'll hook you up???

Let us not forget that the fact when the tires are cold, they are much easier to spin(cold pavement/cold tires). Hot tires and hot pavement grip much better!

My thought was exactly what 96 R/T 10 stated.

In the winter my tires will break loose much easier than in the summer.

My guess is that you are fuel mixture is screwed up with all the mods. I actually felt as though I lost power when I added headers on my c5 - dyno proved that there was more power at the top though...

STU you can spin your tires at speed with only 25% throttle. Whew that sounds like a lot of power. No Viper I have ever driven will break the tires loose at a roll at under around 3/4 throttle unless it is cold or wet out. BTW that means you should be able to break your tires loose rolling to WOT in 4th gear. Wow!

My tires won't spin easily, only spin in first gear at WOT at about 30 MPH. Otherwise lots of grip and head-snapping acceleration in my 01 GTS.

Cool air + cool roads = no traction

Warm Air + warm roads = traction

*** Try taking your car out early morning when it is still cool outside (60 or below). Drive around for a few minutes just until you temp. gauge is 190 or so. Then HAMMER it!

Get back to us with the results. The roads should be cool, your tires are still cool, your engine is not heat soaked, and the air is perfect for HP. If you get no wheel spin, something is wrong.

STUGOTS...the vacuum/element filter? I've cleaned my K&Ns before and don't recall seeing anything like that...what does it look like and what does it do? Thanks!

Viper SRT maybe its my tires maybe thats why i cam spin them so easy, they have about 95% thread on them.

2001 sapphire it is behind the K&N filters on the side of the air box clodest to the T.B's it is directly behind the vacume hose on the drivers side and it acts as a filter for the vacume line, its about the size of a 9 volt battery and every time you get the air filters done professionally 9 times out of 10 they forget it, picked mine up at auto zone for about 3 bucks.

My car is a 99 they may not have them on the cram puffs im not sure
