Fellas...I have been contemplating whether I want to lower the Viper or not...I was hoping to hear some of your experiences, as far as the results...handling, appearance, and of course "how the front spoiler handles avoiding pavement and concrete! Thanks guys.

I have Eibachs on my 98' GTS and it lowered it about 1 1/2 inches all around. Definitely looks better but I would do lowering caps as well if I did it all over for an extra .5-1 inch lowering. As for ride quality, I am on the stock shocks with 18K miles on them, adjusted fronts 1 1/2 turns and the rears 1 1/4 turns but the ride is a bit bouncy. In general, looks improved but ride suffered a bit. I'm sure if I played with the shock settings a bit, I could get it dialed in better but I don't want to keep taking the shocks on and off to do that, major PITA! Front bumper is more easily scraped so you have to be extra careful. Even though there is plenty of wheel/fender gap left, the front airdam will get mangled and it is much closer to the ground than the wheel/fender gap wouold imply. Get an alignment after it's all done for sure.

jdoc - did you get your car aligned? Did you noticed change in height. I am little perturbed that my ride height went up about 1/3" after alignment....

Eibachs here too. Looks great, I dont mind a bit harder ride. I would definately do it again. Alignment is a must after the spring swap.

sbkim,

Spring install and alignment were done at the same time at Roanoke so I do not know if the alignment changed the ride height. Get the lowering caps if you want to go lower without spending a fortune.

He doesn't...let him tell you of the time he ran over a manhole or something and snapped it right in half.

Thats right. What wouldnt you do for good looks. :2tu:

I usually get it painted once a year, unless I find extruding manholes in road constuction zones... :bonker:

In reality its not so bad, I have to drive in reverse out of my dipping driveway, watch out NOT to scoop dead skunks and other animals, speedbumps are a no-no and most other places I tend to drive in (kind of sideways)with one frontwheel ahead of the other one...

The spoiler usually starts in springtime as a 1" thick and by the end of summer I have replaced the stripes (torn) 5-6 times and its only 1/4" thick, Hah, Haa!!! :D

I have to say Redenff's car is one of the meanest looking on the road when your driving next to him. That car looks like its sucking the road like a vacuum. I myself wouldn't have the patience to deal with the consequences of keeping the car that low. But everytime I see Lauri when he visits us NY guys it make me think how great my car might look that low. I think that splitter that he has helps to some degree with scraping than if he would have had the stock bottom facia. In person his car looks bada$$.

Yea I don't think i could handle that kind of upkeep...although it looks amazing! Thats really the part of the lowering i am concerned about and I am putting a GEN 2 bumper on my car so i know that will drop it a tiny bit as well....I don't really care about the stiffness of the ride...its a viper, not my 750. :headbang:

Lowered for over 1 year now with eibachs.Front shocks 1 and 1/2 turns, rears 1 and 1/4 turns. No problem and no scrapes whatsoever.I did all my scraping early on at stock height and learned to be careful about it then. GTS Bruce
