Luxury Tax???

I am sure that there are better mediums to inquire about this, but can someone explain the luxury tax to me:

1) Does it still exit?
2) If so, is it relevant for a vehicle that has already been titled?
3) How much is it and are there any ways of circumventing it?

I was speaking to a dealer with regard to purchasing an 03 SRT and he told me that a major selling point was that ths LT was already paid.

No it does not exist. It was phased out and finally ended in December 2002.

Any dealer that uses that argument should be avoided. They are NOT looking out for your interest.

Ron is right...a dealer should not use that...it is totally false. Not only did it end, the tax law pertains to WHEN you buy an untitled car, not the year of the car. If you found an untitled 2000 and bought it tomorrow, there would be NO luxury tax.
