May trade my solid red 08 coupe for Gen IV ACR or rare color combo coupe

Really enjoy my car but looking for something more rare/unique. Mine has 5,700 miles and is in EXCELLENT shape - needs nothing. Guessing my value is mid-upper $60's and thinking of trading up to low mile Gen IV ACR or low mile rare color combo Gen IV coupe, looking to spend high $70's to $80k. Have seen some 2,000 - 3,000 mile ACRs for mid $80's... Do you guys think I'm in line with my thought process? Will do 1-2 auto crosses per year and attend many local Viper fun/cruise events but not looking for heavy track use.... Thanks! John

I would expect to pay $15-$20k or more for a trade to an ACR depending on year, color, miles.

In my opinion you may not find many content ACR owners are looking to trade for a non ACR coupe, so that leaves you with dealers.

Again in my opinion from what I have seen, I think the used ACRs have been holding in the 80's quite well this year with some finds in the upper 70s with higher miles. And I think it has to do with Gen V prices and lack of Gen V ACR.

Crazy, great point. You're right - I'm thinking if I want to trade it will be with a dealer. If I sell mine first, I could look at private owners. If I waited a year for enough used Gen V's to be for sale, I still don't think they would be near this price, and I just can't trade my car + $40k-ish for a used Gen V when my car is in great shape. Curious to see what dealer trades might be out there, I guess.... Thx!

Another thing to consider if you do trade with a dealer vs selling outright and purchasing what you want, is the potential tax advantage from the trade in.
I just recently traded my 5k mile '08 Aero Coupe for a 500 mile ACR.
I ended up trading it in for 3-5k less than I would have liked selling it outright, however I "saved" on the taxes (over $4500) got the car I wanted for the price I wanted and it was all done in the matter of minutes.

some day, i will have a ACR. But its going to be a while. These will drop in price, but thats if they build a gen V one. Which is up in the air.....

When I traded my 2010 ACR in the sales tax advantage was $7K in my neck of the woods, and it would have been highly doubtful
I would have got 7K more privately. In fact I'm sure I wouldn't have.

Not to mention dealing with the broke ***** and scams.

Yup, the liberal crooks charge a full sales tax on the car regardless if there is a trade in or not, makes absolutely no sense to trade anything in...

Ohio is the same. Unless you are purchasing a new, never titled car.

This applies to any car purchase in California, including new and never titled cars-the liberals do know how to rob people blind in this state.

Wow...even in NYS...liberal capital of the northeast...we still get a credit for sales tax by paying on the cash difference and not the total purchase price. It probably won't be long before NYS follows CA's lead.

As I said, it makes no sense at all to trade in your car in this state unless the dealer offers you more than off the street buyer. Then of course, you lose the negotiating edge over the price of the vehicle you buy. When the time comes to retire, I will not be doing it in this state and most likely not in this country. Getting tired of paying for those who never pay a dime themselves.
