Maybe it is Time to ...

Time to break up the VCA into 2 searate clubs: the Gen I/II and the Gen III and beyond.

Time to break up the VCA website into 2 separate websites as well.

Time to make all Club events all Gen I/II or all Gen III. With OEM support for the Gen III and individual support for the older cars (ask yourself why an OEM would support a car no longer in production).

This was stated in jest, but based on the renewed onslaught against the Gen III by non-owners (i.e. Craig) and Gen I/II owners, I see this as a real possibility. I mean why would a Gen III owner want to subject him/herself to the ridicule that Gen I/II owners spew forth? The majority of Gen III owners are or were Gen I/II owners, and as such are not compelled to ridicule the Gen I/II (me included).

So if you Gen I/II owners and aficionados continue your oppressive attacks toward the Gen III, and indirectly toward the Gen III owners, you may be sealing your own fate. Given the recent rate of attacks I see this as a viable possibility. At the very least you will see a marked drop in Gen III owner participation in this board. If you doubt that take a look back 2+ years ago when a similar build-up of anti SRT prose was written here.

Who said I disliked SRT's? I actually like the SRT, not as much as the GEN I/II, but I do like it. I thought the violin was the right response.

I dunno...

Although it is rather apparent that only a very small minority consider Craigster's drivel as acceptable banter. ["I can appreciate (for the most part) Craig's input based on wanting to see improvements down the line."] AND the vast majority seem to view his incessant onslaught of trash talk no less than trolling. ["Craig, just because you post a lot doesn't mean you add $.02 worth of value to this board. And yes, you are a troll."] Maybe a simple IGNORE button would do the trick. :2tu:

Hey Ron your SRT buddies started that last thread that brought about all the smack talking. It's all these rookies around here stirring up the ***. I love the SRT-10 heck it's a Viper but man you have to admit us Gen 2 guys didn't start it we just ended it. Maybe what you suggested is a good idea.

You seem to call it "oppressive attacks", I prefer "constructive criticism". We, and I speak for most Gen I/II owners, are not anti-Gen III. Heck, all of us are even criticizing the Gen IV and we don't even know what it's going to look like. I think we are just trying to improve the overall standard (looks, performance, reliability, etc) of the Viper as a supercar.

Lighten up FRANCIS!

Anyone that really reads Craig201's posts has way too much time on their hands. Since this board doesn't have an ignore feature, just blow by his and all other posts from the trolls on this board. Best thing we could all do would be to not even acknowldge those posts and maybe the trolls will go away.

As a Gen 1 owner, I have been reading this forum more and more as the SRT is really starting to grow on me. If I get one great, if I don't no big deal - but we are still all Viper brothers.

PEACE - Happy Thanksgiving!

I don't like the look of the SRT-10 compared to the GEN-I/-II Vipers.

My opinion only and I post my opinion whenever and wherever I want - even in the SRT section.

The coupe (GEN-IV=?) has to be very different in design and should have at least 600 hp - enything else would not do it - again for me.

Now, go and take your SRT-10, drive and have FUN!

PEACE and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

It doesnt matter if you split up this board or not...This is the internet and people will offer there opinions no matter which board you go on ...If you dont want to hear there opinions on your beloved Srt10 then dont go online...Simple solution for the thin skinned crybabies....You bought it because you like it better..Thats all that counts..

BTW most people that posted on that other thread[myself included]dont hate the car, I just wish DC had put more curves etc in the car. The pic of the curves on the Gen I/II next to the curveless Gen III hit the nail on the head. It looks good but its not what "most" wanted...There are deffinately certain angles on the SRT10 that imo look better than the previous Gen RT10..But overall the RT is a more emotion inducing, eye catching shape which is what I feel is most lacking from the SRT10's shape...

I remember many posts about the rt10/GTS of guys just saying " I just opened the garage and sat there and stared at the car. Look at those curves".." I cant believe I own it" type comments....I havent seen that kind of emotional responce for the SRT10...I think most of the folks that "constructively critizise" the SRT10, like the car but just want that emotion to be put back it its design..Would I buy the SRT10 if I had the money? Of course..Its a great car and better performer than the Gen I/II even if slighly in some departments...But Id be forever stealing looks at the Gen I/II...The GTS especially was an ****** inducing shape...The SRT10 shape takes you to the peak, but you just cant get off

Well, based on the insight and suggestions, I will move on to something where I do not get slapped in the face every time I open a post. The a**holes that continue to add insults at every opportunity have taken about all the enjoyment out of this site, making it more of a pain than a benefit.

The one thing I will never understand is why you a**holes seem to think that you must tell us how bad our cars are. Over and over. There is just no end to your insults. If you do not like the SRT then why the hell are you even here? Just to complain and insult. That is the only conclusion I can come to.

I fail to understand why the SRT group gets so defensive. How many times have we heard about the fit and finish or the brakes on the Gen I/II? The response is usually 'yeah, so what?'.

But when someone criticizes the shortcomings of the SRT there is a cry of foul. I think the criticism of the Gen I/II resulted in DC making improvements in quality and brakes. I hope the criticism that they created a middle of the road, **-hum car with the SRT causes them to step it up.

Stop being such a bunch of cry babies.

 :2tu:

It looks like some of the SRT crowd only wants a site where glowing and wonderful things can be said about their baby. I guess they would prefer not to hear about any recalls either, cause heck, theys gots the bestest car in the world and nothin can ever be wrong with it.

LMAO

Well put, Snakebitten. I want to walk in the garage and get blown away. That has never happened with the SRT, but it did with the GTS.

Now the GTS-R, wow!

Maybe Dodge isn't showing the coupe (rumor??) at Detroit because they are "going back to the drawing board".

I'm just really starting to "get into" the Vipers. I am coming from old school italian makers, especially Ferrari. But as I'm letting the Viper grow on me, I think the SRT-10 is the best look Viper has had. I tend to see my view as more unbiased, since I'm really a newby in the Viper world, and don't have any alligence in any direction. My money will eventually go for an SRT-10, with a different paint scheme and definitely different wheels. That chromey "bling-bling" look just doesn't have much class to me. There's nothing worse than a Ferrari, Lambo, or AM with chromey bling bling wheels, let alone those spinners. Jeez!

I have a passion for fast cars that strike me as cool and any one model does not make much of a difference. If the Viper was discontinued tomorrow, I would not shed a tear. I liked the SRT enough to buy it. I was attracted by the potential of a TT Stroker and the raw feel of the car. If I keep it for 5 years that would be a record. I'LL have fun with it until I get bored with it then and move on to something else.

I do think it is pretty weak that some of you guys spend more time ******* on each other than actually trying to help one another, but I guess that is just the way it is in "Viper World".

Most of you understand where I and others are coming from....Its not bashing...Some have bashed it, Im not.....As long as there is progress in a model line there will always be comparisons to the outgoing one...Some in favor for the old and the new and a few split...Its life...Deal with it...

You see this in all car circles too NO MERCY...Ive seen the Z06 guys putting down the regular C5 guys..And lets not talk about how the C5 crowd looks down there nose at the C4 guys. So it aint exclusive to the Viper world.....I understand the few that are being deliberately acid toward the car for there own reasons are ******* some off lol. But just roll with it....Ferrari guys go at it on which is there favourite model too....Its universal folks...No big deal really..Can you imagine how boring a forum would be if everyone was the same...The dialog would make the place a morgue...Oh ****...um er :)

SnakeBitten, Unfortunately you are right about the canibalism that exists on these internet forums. It just seems like there is much more of it here and it is a much smaller community. Just because it is done elsewhere that does not make it right though. This kind of crap does will drive people away. I would expect the Viper community to want to grow, I am sure the VCA would like to grow and I know DC wants it to grow. I guess it really does not matter to me as I prefer to hang out with a more diverse crowd, but for those who do have a passion for all that is Viper it seems like ******* in your own cereal.

how can the VCA grow when dodge isn't selling any Vipers...

just sayin.

Well I know they just sold one to me. :2tu:

I really could care less if Dodge sells another Viper. I did not buy it so I could be a member of the "club". I have wanted one for years but just never enough to buy one, until now. I'll modify it and when I am tired of it I'll sell it. Simple.

I am still not sure if you are just overly passionate about the Viper or just like stirring the ***. My guess is a little of one and a lot of the other. ;)
