Did any of you see this ME Four-Twelve based Viper concept at VOI? That thing is awesome.

Just kidding. But I do think it would make a great Viper mid-engine supercar. What do you think?

Very Interesting, I'm not going to ask you how you did that. It took me a week to learn how to post a pic, let alone create one.

and yes it does look somewhat better than what it started from. Keep playing with it, and when we all like it, were going to send you to Dodge.

Yeah, that second one is mine, from Spring 1996. I photochopped a few others as well over the years including a SRT-10 based version. Actually I did two, one closed car and one open version. They were posted here in February of 2002.

However, I do think the Viper is left best as a front engined car. - But, I would like to see an "affordable" Dodge version photochop based off of the Chrysler ME Four-Twelve, of course with a 505cid V-10 and some Dodge styling cues.

Ron,

What if you could stretch out the nose a little bit to reflect Lemans styled cars with Viper styling cues? That would be AWESOME!!

Ron did SUCH A GREAT job on that picture that Team Viper thought there was an internal leak! I never saw a mid engine prototype, but word was that it LOOKED BETTER THAN THIS PICTURE!

Just think it is covered in some old garage or it already hit the Crush machine.

Jay K.,
I did another mid-engine Viper sketch in 1998 that is more of a competition Lemans styled car. It sounds like it might be what you woud like to see... I will go through my archives of "concept" sketches (that I used to do for the NY/CT regional newsletter) and try to get around to uploading that one as well as others in the next day or so.

JGK95,
I put a few drawings up on "My Gallery" on this site including that 1998 Lemans midengine Viper. I will add more from my archives over the next days/weeks and I will also do something contemporary as most of these date from the late 1900s...

I put a few more images to "my gallery" today and I will put up some more over the next week. Apparently, I have quite a few of these things. This is that 1996 midengined Viper...

So is the '96 rear engine designed computer altered like the white GT1 concept you have here. It looks like you used the Porsche GT1 picture and slapped some Viper parts on it.

Jason,
Yes, they are both computer altered "Photochops". I have about a dozen such images up on my gallery now, most (like the ones posted on this thread) are the older small black and white ones that I used to do for the NY/CT newsletter. Anyway, the thinking on 1998 midengined Viper was that it would be an actual Le Mans race car, hence it was based on the "then dominant" car at that time, the Porsche GT1. I don't think all the elements, perspective, and that all important proportion works as well on the 1998 car, and perhaps it does look like the Viper parts are slapped on... So you're critique is well founded.
Anyway, I started a thread in General Viper Discussions asking for a Photoshopping-type forum, and I think you have done a lot of this kind of stuff over the years and perhaps it would serve as a useful place for you to post your images. You may want to comment there...

Also, generally the 3/4 views are tougher to put together convincingly... Like in this one from early 2002...

Here I picked up a low-res picture of the VGX concept car off of the VCA website, and did a quick "photochop" of what a Ford GT fighter Viper might look like, - hidden away in the secret Dodge skunkwerks garage...

While I find that cars that are closer to a straight side view tend to be easier to pull off convincingly... Like this one, which was also from early 2002....

30MidSRT-med.jpg

It is a mid-engined SRT-10, inspired by the drop top Ferrari Modena... Note the 505cid Viper mill under glass...

Nice concepts but I think you are all trying to make it look more like the Ford GT40. There is nothing like the Gen1 and Gen2 Vipers. I like the Gen3 but it does look too much like the new Vette. Lets go back to looking more like the early Vipers not a Vette or GT40 knock offs.
THE VIPER IS THE LEADER the vette and gt40 are just trying to catch up. LETS KEEP THE VIPER #1.
I LOVE WATCHING PEOPLE PRACTICALLY BREAKING THEIR NECKS TO LOOK AT MY VIPER WHEN IT COMES TO A VETTE NO BIG DEAL THERE IS A VETTE ABOUT EVERY OTHER BLOCK. IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD ALONE THERE ARE AT LEAST 6 VETTE'S BUT ONLY ONE VIPER.
Lets keep the Viper unique and a head turner not turn it into a boring vette. As far as the gt40 I hear the price is going to be way up there and out of most peoples price range. Those people might be more inclined to go Lambourghini route a lot cooler car than a ford gt40.

Here is another midengine SRT, a street version. This one was based on a picture I saw on the internet of an SRT convertible sporting a really well designed aftermarket hardtop...
