According to George at MGW, most people prefer the original shift knob (Snake Gripper). I originally ordered the First Strike, but by accident received the Snake Gripper. I decided to give the Snake Gripper a shot and am pretty pleased with it's shorter throw. It does get hot as eng12 indicated, but it's not that bad. Let me know if you'd like to give it a test drive.

Mark,

The car's running great! It'll run even better when Jason Heffner does his top secret magic tricks to it in a few weeks.

As for the shifter, I kept everything stock except the knob. When I first got the car I kept missing shifts and thought about replacing the shifter. But I realized it was my bad technique and after many practice runs, I can shift fast and smooth. The knob is definitely a vast improvement over stock.

I have used both knobs on my car and prefer the First Strike knob. The Gripper was great and a vast improvement over the stock shifter, however I like the "pistol grip" feel of the First Strike knob better. Either way you can't go wrong!
