I know I've seen posts on the MGW shifter here and there, but nothing detailed. I did my searching first (Plum), but get everything from Guy Fierri's recipes to posting best pictures of...

So, remember reading the the MGW provided better, more positive up and down shifting. Wanted to see if there is an illustrate thread on installing, plus discussion of what makes it better. I have read posts on how to hold the shifter to help ensure better shift and that's great, but honestly, don't always remember what position each time I shift...:dunno: Think I'd be more comfortable knowing the shifter was more accurate due to design, spring pressure and so on. Never missed a shift with my Vette's, long clunky throw but always worked up AND down.

Thanks much!:headbang:

Unfortunately if you are looking for an MGW shifter for your Gen2 they do not make one that fits. The placement in the car will not allow enough clearance to the floor pan to install, sorry.

I believe someone did do a custom install on their car and posted the procedure but I could be wrong...

I have personally verified what Mark stated. The horizontal arm of the MGW shifter is too big to allow shifting into 5th, 6th, or reverse. The shifter will hit the ash tray underneath the console. If you've ever seen the stock shifter or a B&M, you will see the difference immediately.

Well, certainly not looking to "make" something fit that shouldn't....I'll check out the B&M. Does the factory shifter knob fit the B&M?

Thanks!

Bill I'm curious why do you think its better than the B&M? I hope to add a RT to my garage soon and if that upgrade is not already done I will be installing a short throw. I have been happy with my B&M but I have had nothing to compare it to except to the stock unit. Thanks!

He is referring to the shift knob, not the shifter itself. MGW makes shifters and shift knobs.

I have MGW shifter on my mustang saleen and have a B&M shifter on my viper. The MGW feels much better, as far as missing shifts both are equal, but the feel of the MGW is much much better...it's hard to explain, you have to try it out. I'll see if I can get something custom made to get the MGW shifter to work in a gen 2 once I get my car back...
