Hey everyone, just wanted to see if there would be any interest in these new Pilot Sport 5 tires that just came out being made in Gen 1-2 Sizes 275/40/17 & 335/35/17. They wont work on my '09 but I do have a '98 TransAm that I use these sizes on and have been using the Ps2 viper tires for the past 10 years.

I submitted a request to Michelin for them to make these new tires in our sizes... If anyone else is interested in sending out a request to Michelin, here is the link. It would be great to have some tires for our cars that werent designed over 15 years ago.

Jut sent them a note. You are right, if enough people request these tires, they may make them. For now, I'm running Toyo now, they are ok, but not very good on a wet surface and they wear very quickly.

Are these like the original PS that get high mileage and OK in cold weather? Getting 40k on a daily driver set of tires should be an option one would think. Easy on the frame cracking too.

I think they will be better but probably still not recommended to drive them when its less than 35 degrees out. The current PS2 has a similar amount of dry grip as a new PS4 but only a 20k treadwear warranty compared to 30k on the newer one. The newer one is also better in the wet.

I put a lot of street and track miles on the OE MXX-3 Pilots. They were more grippy than slicks and R's of the day in cool weather and gave loads of notice before they let go.

I've run the PS2s in the same conditions, but not to the mileage extent I did early in Viper life. I find them to be very capable performers and I think they have better treadwear ratings than the MXX-3s.

I would welcome a newer Michelin tire for our OE wheel sizes, but as long as the PS-2s are still being made, I would continue to be happy with them.

Perhaps my post was a little confusing - the PS2 is the only current production Michelin tire that meets all Viper 17" Gen 1.5 and Gen 2 OE specs.
