I have been trying to figure out what tire to use on my car. I talked to Bobby Archer today & it seemed like he leaned toward the cups for traction. I know this subject has been talked to death, but when you are about to shell out some cash you want it to be the right decision & I have to pick one soon.

Bobby mentioned heat cycles for tires. I assume this is means the number of times the tire can be heated to a certain temp. then the tire becomes less effective... Is this better with Michelin or BFG??

Would the Michelins be good for the street? My decision is between these & BFGs.

Had a few beers hope I did not wander too much.....

Any input with Michelins would be appreciated.

Thanks
Andy

This is the only tire for the street - get a bit of heat in them and they really perform - you will get decent miles out of them
Viper Days requires the use of this tire in all classes up to Super Modified I believe - on the track the tire is awesome! Speaking from experience.

Lastly - this is the best wet weather tire you can put on your Viper

The Sport Cups aren't available in 19", and if you're comparing them to the BFG's I'm assuming you're more interested in traction in a straight line than in cornering because the BFG's definitely aren't good for high speed cornering or a road course. I'd be interested to hear from someone who can compare how the Cups hook from a dead stop to the BFG's, b/c with their cornering ability if they're close they would seem to be the better choice for the street.

Thanks Gavin that is the info I was looking for.
It sounds like the Michelins might be a better choice for the street. I am looking at 18". Can you just put them on the rear?

Thats what I thought. I am still kind of new to the viper world & its good to have everyones opinion. After talking to Bobby he seems to be the most knowledgeable person i have talked to about tires.
Thanks ViperJoe

Gavin,
The cup tires can only be used in Unlimited and Super Modified at Viperdays. They are fantastic on the track compared to the regular Pilots. I also run them on the street, but be sure to warm them up before driving it hard or it can get away from you real fast.
