Just wanted to briefly share my experience today! I have learned a lot about my 08 coupe in almost a full years ownership but tipped the scale today.

I did the Michigan mile. It was the events first year at it and I was very impressed.

I ran a 174mph pretty consistantly and beat a few 458's, Gallardos and even a FGT and a ZR1. Of course I wasn't the fastest car there but had a blast none the less.

I learned the 08 is consistent and a very stable car at 174mph. Also learned no matter how good or bad my launch was it made very little difference to the outcome MPH. This was my first time ever doing a mile event and to be honest I can't think of a time I have ever mashed the gas to the floor for that period of time.

I also learned that once you hit 5th gear in a Viper the speeding up process is very slow going!

Just thought I'd take a second to share as prior to this event I couldn't find much info on Vipers in the mile.

Congrats on your 174 mph run. I would love to do that some day.

I can't remember the mods on your car?

Great runs Tim and thanks for representing for the Viper community. I agree that there aren't too many threads on Standing Mile events for Vipers. I have attended the Texas Mile over the last three years, each year with more mods on my Gen III convertible. I have made a post for each one of those outings, see links below:

176.5 mph - Headers and a tune only

191.5 mph - Ported heads, cam, full exhaust and tune

195.0 mph - Above, plus single blade throttle body and custom intake system

Thanks guys! My mods are just cat delete, Borla pipes and Mooar ECU. Also running Eibachs and NT05's on 10 spokes that probably didn't help with weight but its what I had available as my CCW's are out getting painted.

Here is a video I took with my iPhone 5. Link hopefully works:

Also I usually run a GoPro but wasn't sure on where to mount it and if it would hold so didn't get much with it.

Thanks for posting that video. Nice solid run. I see what you mean after you hit 5th gear.

Do you have a link for other times that day? Who was fastest?

Nice run, Tim! I had to show this to Diane, so she could see the view from the passenger seat at more than 155....looks like a real blast. Would be interesting to see what the G5 would do with the different gearing...
