Missin\' the Viper...

I've been really having Viper withdrawals as of late since I parted with my Coupe about a month ago. My goal is to ultimately get an 08 or 09, don't know if I can wait that long though :( . I need a Batweiser...

Re: Missin\' the Viper...

go order an '08 right now.

if you're holding out for an '09, then look for a good deal on a GenIII and drive it for a yr or two

An 08' and 600hp is nice, but I couldnt be without my Viper. If you wanted to wait for a 08, then maybe you just have a few more months. If waiting on a 09, Id just go get a 06 Coupe and be done. If you need power, throw a Paxton on and you will be faster then the 08. But get yourself another Viper or you will end up going crazy. :bonker:

Finally got it !

I know how you feel. Sold my Viper back in November thinking I would have my 08 by now. This going to be a crappy summer..........

sold mine probably 4 months ago now and miss it everyday...but a wise man once told me "you only marry one thing in this world and it aint your car"

there will always be other vipers and other cars.

Go buy an ACR and have fun w/ that for a year. You can sell then to buy an 08 and have not lost much, if anything, if you strike the right deal.

Ya, that's a rare and sweet color combo. You don't see those very often, even here.
Dude, I just installed HID's. OMG what an improvement, great safety upgrade. I just have the fogs in. They sent me 9006 instead of 9005's which are my lowbeams. Should come by end of week.

I just can't believe how everyone here is praising 600hp. It doesn't cost much money to get your current viper up to 600HP, and the more important number the 560 Torque. Horsepower looks nice, but Torque gets it done and the torque isn't much more.

True, but the power increase, although easily matched or exceeded by modding an older Gen 3, also comes with a full warrantee as well as a host of other upgrades.

Start adding up the cost and time to take a Gen 3 to 600 N/A hp, adjustable coil-overs, Quaife, beefed up trans and warrantee (if you could even get one after all those mods) and the '08 starts looking pretty good to me.

We still don't have a hard cost on the new car. If 2003 is an indication, I'm guessing that the production will be somewhat limited through year's end. Unlike 2003, the parts bin is ready with much of the car remaining the same.

Here is hoping that they keep it at sub $90k.

I still find that pretty odd that a price has not been announced. Wonder why, especially since preorders are going to be taken soon.

Re: Missin\' the Viper...

Go pick up a GEN III vert for $55k, order that great looking HardTop that was shown off here a short while ago, send it to Heffner for an additional 600hp (1100HP), and screw waiting around! :2tu:

True, but get the 600hp upgrade and get it to 675hp with the aide of some goodies :2tu:

I too wish they'd announce pricing on the 08

The same could have been said in 1996 about 450hp, and in 2003 about 500hp.

600hp is a mark, an AWESOME mark, unprecedented ever before in American autos. It is as big of milestone as 400hp was in 1992.

It is also an abridged way of listing all the other upgrades - tranny, diff, etc. that comes with it.

BTW you can build a 600hp Mustang for cheaper.

You're stronger than me Bat, I couldn't go without my Viper for long without getting really cranky. Then I'd want to break things, and maybe eventually .....

Hope you can find something in the mean time.

Dan

PS I don't think you'll go too far wrong on the VOI 9 coupe.

Hey Dan, I fell in Love in with your VOI9 Coupe the first time I saw it at the PAG Meet a while back. The car is simply gorgeous. I wouldn't mind having one :) .

I saw Dave at the Carlsbad meet this am. He asked me if I was going, but I had work I needed to catch up with. Any pics from the tour?
