OK, so maybe there is a difference between the relief valves. What are those pressure settings brand to brand? Cracking pressures and resetting pressures? Mean averages of a production lot versus upper and lower control values? What is the measurable contaminants in unfiltered oil? What is the duration of this potential bypass? To extrapolate, it would seem that if 5 seconds of unfiltered oil can ruin an engine, that by the end of 1 hour of driving the filter would be plugged.
Anyway, like was posted, most of us change our filters way before they expire. For the record, I use M1 0W40 and an M1-204 every 3K. That's "pink" if you shop that way.
