Number 4 is the reason I am reluctant to get it. Like the rest.

Agreed. I love the decel pop. One of the cool things about the GEN IV's.

I agree, this was the reason I haven't bought it as well...

Same here....otherwise, I'd be all over it. LOVE the pop!!!

I agree with all the positives, but I miss the burble terribly. Screams at WOT, but sounds like a Honda on decel. I hope Jon, or somebody figures out how to return that fantastic decel sound!

Is it a burble that is missed or a pop? How much does the PCM run?

i believe that pop or burble is indicative that it is slightly out of tune. too much unburnt fuel on decel.
i have the mopar pcm and am just fine without that burble.

Well said gentlemen! I would not "trade up" and lose that lovely decel gurgle, burble, and pop that screams to everyone in earshot, "THIS CAR IS ONE BAD EFFIN ****!!!!!" Yes, we know that the decel gurgle, burble, and pop don't actually mean that, but when folks hear it, that is exactly what they think. Unless they drive a Prius, then they just get scared and piss their pants. And while that noisy decel experience might seem to be totally ego inflating related, I love to hear it just as much when there is no person around but myself. Which makes me wonder, "If a Viper gurgles in the woods does it still make a sound?" :p

As usual, I am confident that SRT is probably examining the posibilities of a 'flash' for the PCM that would enhance the decel burble/gurgle/pop.
It has already had an AA and AB variant..... AP could be Audible Pop !!

{Would you want an audio pickup in the exhaust pipe that could be played thru the stereo? These guys could DO that! }

Thanks Jon, So now I'll have to find a dealer who I can actually trust to do the swap for me since I live nowhere near a viper certified dealer:(

ANY DEALER than can replace the PCM on a Charger, JEEP, SRT, etc can do this......the process is the same. Not a "Viper Specific" task.
But be sure that if they are tempted to do a road test, you do the driving!

So you're saying that you can't just unplug the Venom ECU and plug the OEM one back in for an emissions test? You have to go back to the dealer to have them reinstall your OEM PCM?? If so, that is incredibly ***.

JonB,

Can you clarify the question I have quoted?

I also have a Mopar ECU. Once it is installed by the dealer you can switch between the two as often as you like, no more dealer involvement required. I was told when inspection time came it was a good idea to reinstall the factory computer and drive a 100 miles or so before getting it inspected.

THIS IS CORRCET.... the 100 miles or so brings the shelved PCM to relearn the adaptives since it was gone. If you keep it there the delaer would need to update the mileage log to ensure warrantee coverage.
