I an getting ready to install Gen IV seats into a Gen II. I have looked back as old threads and some are recommending the Northwind adjusters. If anyone has done this here are some questions:

1. Since the Gen IV seats already have adjusters, why do you have to replace them.

2. Is it possible to fabricate a bracket and keep the Gen IV adjuster and still maintain a usable height.

3. If height is the issue, some additioanl threads discuss an adjuster bracket that Summit sells - does this also lower the seat.

Best of luck! I had a set of seats and ended up selling them. Way to big for the interior to have a comfortable fit.

The side bolsters are way to big inside of a GTS because it pushes your arm toward the shifter and getting in and out is a pain.

To my measurements with the stock brackets cut off the seats, they are 3" taller and 3/4" wider than the Gen 2 seats. Even at the lowest possible point, reclining the seat forward is next to impossible without rubbing the headliner.

I am curious if the installation would be better if the Gen IV seats were bolted to the floor and not adjustable.

I have always used a 2" seat lowering kit for both the GEN II and GEN III so having a fixed position is not a problem for me.

I would think that if you changed the mounting some of the issues above might go away.

You can make them fit because I have seen it done. It just depends on how bad you want them in your car. If you mounted them solid by losing the sliding track you would gain about 1 1/4" but bolting them down might not be that easy to actually be able to bolt them to the floor.

I wanted them in my Viper really bad but it wasn't worth it for me because it was way to cramped and I'm only 5'9".

I have them on mine, and they work fine. Make some 1/4" plates to bolt them to the original mounting holes.

Cramped matters. I am 6'2".

If the Gen III/IV seats go in the car I still need the ample room to operate the car comfortably.

It can't be done without modifing the seat reclining mechinism. That part of the seat is wider than the space between the frame rails in the gen 1&2's. Take out the reclining mech and make it so its permanently set in one position and then you can mount it to the floor.
That's wht Jances first pic has a tilted seat, it won't fit between the rails!

If you do this then make sure you don't just plung-n-play it and live with whatever you get.
Experiment with propping various spacers (1/2", 3/4", 1") under the front edge and sitting in there to get the right contact support under your ham strings... Find the "right for you fit" and mount it with that spacer or washers.
You'll regret not doing it on your 1st a long drive.

Did you retain the oem adjusters or mount them in a fixed position. I looked at them a little closer and it looks like I will have to cut some welds if I want to try and use part of the existing adjuster system.
