Posted about running 10.80s last night on the MT Drag Radials. My Clutch is gone, If I do a 5-6 second burnout clutch won't work. When I launched above 4000 rpm the clutch would hang to about the 60 foot mark, below 4000 rpm the car bogs, then it wouldn't take an upshift to third, I still went 12.02 at 102 mph and that was only with power in 1st and 2nd and gliding the rest of the way that was my first run. I think these tires are the real deal, I think these tires may have killed my clutch. It is extremely hard to hold the car in the burnout even with the line lock. The tires are just grabbing, even wet. I'm hoping with a new clutch to see some 1.40s. I drove them to the track with the skinnies up front, way better than with the radial tires up front. The car tracked very straight with no wandering, I drove 35 miles to the track at 70-75 mph, it was very smooth, you just have to watch the offramp curves, the front skinnies don't like the turns.

These are the sizes they have, I ma running the 255/50R16 on 16X10 CCWS. I basically replaced my ET streets with them, they are slightly wider, and they are much more stable, with a new clutch I think they are gonna out perform the ET Streets. They have been outlawed in some Drag Radial racing classes because they hook to hard and BFG and Nittos can't keep up.

Well.. I was tempted to lean towards the 16" M/Ts, after your ealrier post, but other than a fried clutch your ETs are still in the 10.80s.

Skinnies up front were recently reported to be good for a .1-.2sec drop so factor that into any improvement once you get you new clutch in a make some runs...

For overall less cost I'll probably go with the new 18" M/T drag radials when they come out next Spring, and leave the OEM rims and tires on the front ..

Guys at the local speed shop last summer told me they were getting feedback that the M/T drag radials were grabbing as good as the M/T bias ply ET streets.

Your signature 1.55 60' on Michelins shows most people would be better off working on their 60' technique IMHO

FE,

My previous 10.80 runs were with the Skinnies up front (thus the skinnies factor was already accounted for) and the BFGs on the back, but in much cooler less humid weather. The burnt clutch has a lot to do with the times On Wednesday night, I was unable to put a good heating on the tires and I was unable to launch hard. After the new clutch and some cooler weather I'll be able to really account for the difference. When is Mickey Thompson coming out with the 18s and what size will they be???
